Sunshine Community Services of Tulsa is excited to announce a new partnership with D'Spot Hope Surplus, allowing us to reopen our community food pantry and continue providing essential support to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

The pantry will now be hosted at D'Spot Hope Surplus, located at 725 North Lewis Avenue in Tulsa.

For those unfamiliar with D'Spot, they are doing incredible work in our community by helping families access affordable household necessities including furniture, bedding, kitchen supplies, home goods, and much more. Every item is carefully inspected and tested to ensure it is safe and functional.

This partnership is a natural fit. Both Sunshine and D'Spot share the belief that meeting basic needs creates opportunities for healthier, more stable lives. By combining resources and working together, we can help individuals and families access food, household essentials, healthcare services, and community support all in one location. We believe this collaboration will make it easier for people to get the help they need while strengthening the network of organizations serving Tulsa's most vulnerable residents.

We are especially grateful to D'Spot for providing a new home for the pantry project. Having a dedicated location allows us to continue expanding access to food assistance and reach more people throughout the community. We are incredibly excited to see what we can accomplish together.

Pantry hours are still being finalized but will be available during daytime hours throughout most of the week. Additional details will be announced soon.

We are currently seeking donations of large, locking storage cabinets, preferably metal or other durable materials, to help us safely store and display pantry items. Donations can be purchased through our Amazon Wishlist or delivered directly to either location:

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, many people see it as the unofficial start of summer. With summer comes pool parties, splash pads, vacations, hot weather, and often clothing that shows more skin.

For many individuals, this season can be challenging. It may trigger eating disorder thoughts, body image struggles, or the emergence of disordered eating behaviors.

A few reminders as we enter this summer season:

☀️ You are worthy exactly as you are right now.

☀️ Your value is not determined by your weight, shape, size, or appearance.

☀️ Every body is a swimsuit body.

☀️ You do not need to earn food, rest, or enjoyment.

☀️ You deserve to nourish your body consistently and compassionately.

☀️ Health and well-being come in many shapes and sizes.

☀️ Your children, friends, and loved ones will remember the memories you made with them—not the size of your body.

This summer, choose presence over perfection. Jump in the pool. Wear the swimsuit. Take the pictures. Make the memories. 👙☀️

If you're needing support, we are here for you.

From all of us at Sunshine, thank you to nurses everywhere who dedicate their time, patience, compassion — and at times, their sanity — to caring for others. Today and every day, we recognize the sacrifices you make and the countless ways you show up for your patients, coworkers, and communities.

A special thank you to our nursing staff, who make a difference every day and somehow still make coming to work fun. Happy Nurses Week 💛

At Golden Hour, we believe recovery should meet you where you are—not where someone else thinks you should be.

Our enhanced outpatient program is designed for real life, real people, and real healing. You don’t have to be at a certain “stage” of recovery to join us—just medically stable and ready to take the next step.

✨ What makes us different?

We’re accessible.
We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most major insurances because care shouldn’t be out of reach.

We’re collaborative.
We work alongside your existing outpatient team to support—not replace—your care.

We remove barriers.
Meals and snacks are provided at no cost, so you can focus on healing instead of logistics.

We’re inclusive and affirming.
Our space is LGBTQ+ friendly, trauma-aware, and intentionally diverse. Many of our staff bring lived experience with eating disorders and mental health, creating a deeper level of understanding and connection.

We’re community-driven.
Through our partnership with Carabelle’s Legacy, meals are prepared by justice-involved women being trained as chefs—because healing should extend beyond our walls.

We’re experiential.
From cooking classes to pet therapy to integrated sessions when needed, we go beyond traditional group therapy.

We’re shame-free.
Our approach is rooted in intuitive eating and Health at Every Size (HAES). We focus on progress—not perfection—and actively challenge all-or-nothing thinking. Every meal is an opportunity, not a test.

We’re holistic (without the “woo”).
Mind, body, and spirit all matter—but we keep it grounded, practical, and meaningful.

And most importantly…

🎓 Everyone graduates.
Because showing up matters. Because trying matters. Because you matter.

Whether this is your first step or your tenth, you are welcome here—exactly as you are.

Hi friends 💛

We’re reaching out to our Tulsa community for a little support.
Our Golden Hour Program at Sunshine Community Services provides intensive outpatient care for young adults and adults navigating eating disorder recovery. Many of our participants come from high-need backgrounds, and we work hard to create a safe, supportive space for healing, connection, and growth.
We regularly use art and music in group therapy, and these tools make a huge difference—but we rely heavily on donated supplies to keep things going.

If you’re able to contribute, here’s what we’re currently in need of:
🎨 Art Supplies
Markers, colored pencils, crayons
Sketch pads or printer paper
Glue sticks
Scissors
Construction paper or cardstock
Magazines (for collages!)
Stickers, washi tape, craft supplies
Paint, brushes, paper plates
🎧 Music & Group Supplies
Journals or notebooks
Pens/pencils
Bluetooth speaker (new or gently used)
Headphones/earbuds
Clipboards
🧠 General Group Supplies
Index cards
Sticky notes
Storage bins/containers
Cleaning wipes or paper towels
Tablecloths (for easy cleanup)

✨ Gently used items are absolutely welcome!
✨ We just ask that items are clean and in good condition.

Every single donation helps us create a more engaging, supportive environment for people doing really important, really hard work 💛
If you’d like to donate or have questions, feel free to message us directly!
Thank you for supporting your community—we truly couldn’t do this without you.
