Broken Arrow Leadership Foundation

Broken Arrow Leadership Foundation The Broken Arrow Leadership Foundation is non profit organization dedicated to community support and leadership training in Oklahoma.

The Broken Arrow Leadership Foundation is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to community support and leadership training in Oklahoma. The 24 communities that we currently serve include Broken Arrow, Bixby, Bristow, Catoosa, Chelsea, Claremore, Cleveland, Collinsville, Coweta, Glenpool, Henryetta, Jenks, Kellyville, Manford, Muskogee, Nowata, Okmulgee, Owasso, Pryor, Sand Springs, Sapulpa, Sk

iatook, Tulsa and Wagoner. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, formerly known as the Broken Arrow Jaycees. We hold true to our mission of providing leadership development through community service that was established in 1954 when the Broken Arrow Jaycees were formed. We are the same people with the same mission and will continue the programs that we feel make the biggest impact in the many communities that we serve in Oklahoma. The Broken Arrow Leadership Foundation, Inc. was formed in October of 2013 as a Not For Profit corporation in the state of Oklahoma. Tax Exempt status was granted by the Internal Revenue Service in May of 2015. Contributions to us are tax exempt under section 501 (c) (3) of the internal revenue code. We are an all-volunteer organization. Our mission is to provide leadership training through community service. Our story really begins in 1954 with the formation of the Broken Arrow Jaycees chapter. Over the years our programs expanded from only serving Broken Arrow to also serving many other communities in eastern Oklahoma. As the state Jaycees offices folded and the national offices moved out of our state, it became apparent to the membership that it was time for a change. A decision was made to fold the chapter and form an organization of our own. This is just what happened in the fall of 2013. In an effort to have local control of our organization while continuing our mission, the foundation was formed. The Broken Arrow Leadership Foundation currently reaches out to 24 different communities throughout Oklahoma with our various programs. With the support of many donors and volunteers, we bring relief to families in our communities that find themselves in a time of need. Every year we provide scholarships for children ages 6 and older with any physical or intellectual disability. Through the support of volunteer counselors, campers leave limitations behind during Make Promises Happen camp events at Central Christian Camp. The children enjoy fishing, boating, arts & crafts, swimming, archery, dances, talent shows and much more. Annually, we provide much needed relief to families that would otherwise do without during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. With the assistance of school counselors and other service agencies, we are able to identify the families that are truly in need. To date we have been able to provide help to as many as 24 different communities throughout Oklahoma. These include Broken Arrow, Bixby, Bristow, Catoosa, Chelsea, Claremore, Cleveland, Collinsville, Coweta, Glenpool, Henryetta, Jenks, Kellyville, Mannford, Muskogee, Nowata, Okmulgee, Owasso, Pryor, Sand Springs, Sapulpa, Skiatook, Tulsa and Wagoner. We help underprivileged children buy Christmas presents for their family members. They can also purchase clothing and personal items that they may need as well as a gift for themselves. When shopping is complete, we assist with wrapping gifts while the kids enjoy hot chocolate and donuts.

The 4th Annual Barbara Brown-Kimbrough Community Service Scholarship, sponsored by AVB Bank, was presented at the 38th anniversary of the Miss Broken Arrow Scholarship Pageant. The scholarship is in memoriam of Barbara Brown-Kimbrough.
Barbara was a long-time resident of Broken Arrow; a strong, vibrant and independent woman that was passionate about supporting the arts, education, her community and family, and the preservation of
history. From her dedication to community organizations such as The Museum Broken Arrow…to her love of the Salvation Army…from her advocacy for the American Cancer Society and decades of support for Relay for Life…to her church…from raising her family to diligently working to create a living classroom at Northeastern State University, Broken Arrow…and serving on the Board of Directors for AVB Bank (1983-2015), as the third-generation of family ownership, she set the standard for integrity and helping
others to effect positive change. Encouraging others to work toward a common vision, this remarkable civic-minded lady served others with generosity, honesty, kindness, initiative, decisiveness and a sense of purpose. AVB Bank is proud to sponsor the Barbara Brown-Kimbrough Community Service Scholarship, as Barbara
truly exemplified the mission of her Bank: Serve, connect and succeed together.

AVB generously awarded one Teen and one Miss Candidate this prestigious award and a $500.00 and $1,000.00 scholarship, based on their personal community service efforts. Lyric Wallen and Lauren Frost were this year's recipients. Our organization is so thankful to AVB Bank and their dedication to our program.
