Today, June 20, 2024, is World Refugee Day.

As of the end of 2022, "there were 108.4 million people who were forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations"-source UNCHR. "This number rose to a record 120 million people by the end of May 2024"-source “The New Humanitarian” website.

This includes:
35.3 million refugees (people driven from their home country into another country)
62.5 million internally displaced people (people driven from their home to another place within their home country)
5.4 million asylum seekers
5.2 million people in need of international protection
*above 2022 numbers with wording from UNCHR*
*wording in parentheses from me*

They are valuable and loved by God: They must be reached!

1 Peter 2:17 from The Passion Translation reads "Recognize the value of every person". These 120 + plus million people are great on God's heart.

They must be reached with practical help and the life-changing message found in Jesus.
