Youth Philanthropy Initiative Tulsa - YPI

YPI is a 3-year program for Tulsa area high school students that teaches them what it means to be a philanthropist and change agent.

The Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is the vision of Lynn Schusterman to begin preparing the next generation of philanthropists. Everything the students experience is meant to further their knowledge and experience in four main areas: Philanthropy, Leadership, Self Knowledge and Community Building. Each cohort of 25 students is provided with $25,000 to use toward an issue facing teens that the

y feel is under-addressed. While supported by 2 adult advisors, YPI is truly a student-led program. Students choose their focus issue on their own,, meet community leaders and work though team-building activities. YPI strives to create a diverse group with students from a wide range of high schools (public, private, home school, etc), communities (Tulsa, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Sand Springs, Bixby, Sapulpa, etc.) and ethnic/religious backgrounds.

YPI needs your help!
We call on all alumni, parents and other community members to fill out a survey on their experience with YPI for our impact assessment. This assessment seeks to capture and celebrate YPI's nearly 20 years of service to the Tulsa community, and will be used to improve the program.
The deadline for survey submissions is May 22, 2023.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS EXTENDED! The application deadline for YPI Cohort 15 has been extended to July 22! All rising freshman and sophomores in the Tulsa area are eligible to apply.

Why YPI?
YPI is an advanced leadership development program that channels the energy of teens to build stronger communities. Over the course of three years, a cohort 25 teenagers from around the Tulsa area is granted $25,000 to identify a single focus issue and create a project to improve conditions for other teens. At the conclusion of YPI, students will have created a prototype of their program that can be implemented in other communities.
