Tulsa Changemakers Building the infrastructure for youth voice, choice, and power in Tulsa

Tulsa Changemakers builds capacity in youth, adults, and systems to nourish a landscape that mobilizes youth to drive positive impact in Tulsa right now and into the future. In their first year of Teach For America in 2015, Jake Lerner and Andrew Spector recognized two things: 1) their 5th and 6th grade classrooms were filled with promising young leaders capable of driving positive impact in Tulsa

right now, and 2) although they, as outsiders and newcomers, were being told by the Tulsa community that they are valuable community assets, their students, the insiders, were not always getting the same message. Jake and Andrew started Tulsa Changemakers because they believe the youth of Tulsa and their families are critical community assets. They are driven by their conviction that long-term and sustainable community transformation happens when communities are mobilized to drive their own change. Since their first workshop in 2016, Tulsa Changemakers has grown into a program of Leadership Tulsa that has hired, trained, and supported 40 educators to guide 446 students at 27 schools to plan, execute, and measure 90 community impact projects.

High school students looking for volunteer hours this summer? ☀️

Tulsa Changemakers is looking for high school students to serve as mentors during our middle school summer camp! Mentors will support middle school students, help build a fun and welcoming camp environment, and earn volunteer hours.

Looking for something meaningful and fun to do this summer?

Tulsa Changemakers is hosting a 4-day camp for students entering 6th–8th grade!

During camp, students will:
🤝 Connect with other middle school students from across the city
💡 Think creatively about ways to make Tulsa better
🌟 Meet adult Changemakers making an impact in our community right now
🎉 Build leadership skills, collaborate, and have fun together

As we enter the weekend, we gotta do one last recap video!
Last night was the final Pitch Night for the spring semester. This week, students across Tulsa shared projects rooted in real listening, real needs, and real action.
This work happens because people show up and believe in what young people are capable of right now.
