Tulsa Association of Doll Artists We are a non-profit organization devoted to making art dolls. While we do a lot of work in cloth, we also work with clay and mixed media art projects.

We promote the development of arts education. We meet the first Saturday at Hardesty Regional Library. also known as: Tulsa Dolling Dames
We are a group of ladies (and gent) who love to create beautiful, whimsical, personalities from fabric, fiber, found objects, sequins, jewels, and embellishments of all sorts. In addition, each of us explores other art mediums, such as quilting, beading, embroidery. Most of all, we love to get together and have fun -- while making art!

In case anyone would be interested, I saw 2 stacks of Doll Crafter & Doll Maker magazines at a local thrift store. They're in great shape & only $1 ea (I think that's what I saw). Also, once again, picked up a really pretty piece of fabric in the form of a mini-dress for only $3. It'll make a nice costume for a fancy art doll!

The store is at 19th & Garnett in Tulsa. Turning Point Thrift Store.

Now that the major fabric stores have abandoned us, we creative types have to get really creative! I've found that thrift stores are a great source of materials for art dolls. Got these today at Turning Point Thrift Store in Tulsa. I've been wanting to finish this doll for ages & I think this gray shimmer and the little feather & jewel embellishment are just the thing!

Last Wednesday I learned my friend Kimber Fenili passed away. She was a brilliant artist and a beautiful soul. My first class in art dollmaking was a bit difficult for me. I had been teaching myself and then this amazing bunch of people came in to my life. Kimber was so kind to me at that class. I had gone to the bathroom to cry because my fabric choices were wrong for the project. My sewing machine was loud. I realized I didn't know what I was doing but I wanted to make these dolls so badly. And I wanted to be friends with these people. Kimber was so kind. She and Jayne Hill Swanson made me feel safe and comfortable and welcome. She always messaged me on the holidays. And chatted with me from time to time. She encouraged me as I grew in the art. And she made such beautiful dolls. She was so gifted. So much talent. I will miss her bright soul in my life.
