Balance is something many of us don’t think about, but it’s the result of multiple systems working together. The brain, inner ear (vestibular system), vision, and nervous system all help the body stay stable and coordinated during movement.
When a neurological injury or condition affects one or more of these systems, balance and coordination may change. This can impact everyday activities like standing, walking, or transitioning between movements.
Understanding how balance works helps bring awareness to the complexity of movement and why supportive, adaptive environments can be important for individuals navigating neurological recovery. At DEFY, we focus on creating opportunities for individuals to stay engaged in movement and build confidence over time.
