As we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month this May, Just The Beginning is proud to host our Annual Mental Health Workshop—a safe and empowering space created to expose and close the gap surrounding mental illness.

We are honored to welcome trauma therapist Latia Parker, who will share not only her professional expertise but also her lived experience. Her powerful voice will help participants and guests challenge stigma, embrace healing, and move toward wholeness.

This experience is more than a workshop—it’s a step toward breaking barriers, building understanding, and reminding our community that mental health matters for all of us.

Mental Health Awareness is not just something we acknowledge at Just The Beginning (JTB)—it’s something we actively live out every day. It is essential, it is foundational, and it is critical to the work of true transformation.
We were honored to welcome Latia Parker, trauma therapist and founder of Parker’s Hope for Mental Wellness, a newly launched nonprofit committed to advancing mental health and wellness through trauma-informed care.
Her work is powerful and timely—providing trauma-informed therapy services, reentry mental health support programs for men and women, and youth and family support services that address sensitive and often unspoken trauma, including Substance Abuse (SA).
At Just The Beginning, we are intentional about integrating mental health into every aspect of our diversion programming for women and reentry services for men and women. Healing is not optional—it is necessary. Mental wellness is a vital part of helping individuals successfully navigate life, rebuild, and thrive.
We all deserve the opportunity to heal, to grow, and to move forward whole.

DAY 2:
Harmful patterns that continue to plague lives, if not interrupted, are often passed from one generation to the next. Healing requires more than recognizing behaviors—it requires unpacking the wrong thought patterns, beliefs, and survival responses that keep people bound.
Transformation begins when we become willing to confront what has been normalized, challenge unhealthy cycles, and do the work to heal from the inside out.
We all deserve the opportunity to break cycles, renew our minds, and create a healthier path for those coming behind us.
Growth is intentional!
Healing is necessary!Transformation is possible!💛

I am truly humbled by these kind words. Thank you, Just The Beginning, for trusting me to walk alongside such amazing women on their healing journey.

Witnessing growth, resilience, and transformation has been a blessing. Thank you to every woman who showed up, shared her story, and chose healing. Your strength inspires me.

❤️ Grateful beyond words.

— Latia Parker, LPC-S, LADC/MH

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, our hearts are filled with gratitude for what we witnessed at Just The Beginning.
For many of our participants, this month was more than a series of workshops—it was a journey of discovery, healing, and truth. Women courageously began to recognize the trauma they have experienced throughout their lives and understand that many of those wounds were not their fault. For some, it was the first time they were able to connect their experiences to the emotional, mental, and spiritual challenges they have carried for years.
Healing begins with awareness, and awareness opens the door to transformation.
We are especially grateful for our facilitator, whose extraordinary gift of empathy, compassion, and professional expertise created a safe space for vulnerability, growth, and breakthrough. She met every participant with grace, understanding, and genuine care, helping each woman feel seen, heard, and valued. Her commitment exceeded expectations and left a lasting impact on this group of courageous women.
At Just The Beginning, we believe healing is essential to purpose. As women become aware of their trauma, they also begin to recognize their resilience, strength, and God-given potential. We are honored to walk alongside them on this journey toward wholeness, restoration, and freedom.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our mission of empowering, developing, and building women into transformed and confident leaders living out their God-given purpose.

🏠 Parker’s Hope for Men – Reentry & Sober Living

At Parker’s Hope for Mental Wellness, we are committed to creating safe, structured, and supportive environments for men transitioning back into the community.

Parker’s Hope for Men is a Level III certified recovery residence designed to provide reentry housing and sober living for individuals working toward stability, sobriety, and independence.

Our home offers more than just a place to stay—it provides a foundation for growth. Through structure, accountability, peer support, and access to clinical services through Betty Jackson Counseling Services, PC, residents are given the tools they need to rebuild their lives.

We meet individuals where they are and walk alongside them as they work toward long-term recovery and success.

✨ This is more than a house… it’s a second chance.

Today, staff at Betty Jackson Counseling Services, PC (BJCS) met with Cherokee Nation Career Services to collaborate on strengthening support for individuals in need of behavioral health and reentry services.

During this meeting, BJCS provided insight into our outpatient services, as well as Parker’s Hope for Men, a program under our nonprofit, Parker’s Hope for Mental Wellness, designed to support individuals in need of reentry housing and sober living.

Our House Manager, Irvin, provided valuable insight into the real-time needs within our sober living and reentry housing program, helping to further inform meaningful collaboration and service alignment.

The roundtable discussion created an opportunity to share resources, align efforts, and explore ways we can collectively enhance the services we provide.

We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Cherokee Nation Career Services and look forward to working together to better serve our community.

On April 14th, Parker’s Hope for Mental Wellness partnered with the Sapulpa Lady Chieftains to give back to Sapulpa High School by providing hygiene bags for both girls and boys.

These items were provided to school counselors, who will thoughtfully identify students in need to ensure the support reaches those who can benefit most.

Kailynne Parker-White, board member of Parker’s Hope for Mental Wellness, led this initiative and personally delivered the bags with the support of her teammates, reflecting both leadership and teamwork in action.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible—because every student deserves to feel confident, supported, and cared for. 💙
