August Students of the Month 🎉

Every month, we have the opportunity to recognize two Clary Sage College students who stand out for their hard work, dedication, and the way they represent our CARES culture. This month, we’re proud to celebrate Dewayne Parks and Lauren Combs!

💈 AM Student of the Month: Dewayne Parks | Barber

Dewayne has made such an impact during his time in our Barber program and is a great example of what it means to live out our CARES culture. He brings personality, laughter, and energy to the people around him while also showing respect, dedication, and a willingness to keep learning and improving.

Throughout the program, we have watched Dewayne grow not only in his barbering skills, but also in his confidence and professionalism. He works hard, pays attention to the details, and takes pride in making his clients look and feel their best. He has built strong relationships with his classmates and instructors and definitely knows how to keep everyone laughing along the way!

As Dewayne gets ready to graduate, we are proud to recognize him as our Student of the Month and celebrate the growth he has shown. We know he will carry the CARES culture with him into the barbering industry, and we can’t wait to see what he does next!

✨ PM Student of the Month: Lauren Combs | Esthetics

Lauren is such a great example of our CARES culture and the kind of student who makes a positive impact on everyone around her. She comes to class with a smile, is always willing to help, and is one of the biggest cheerleaders for her classmates, especially during practicals!

Lauren balances school with working in the medical field and a long commute, but when she walks through our doors, she shows up ready to learn, work, and grow. She continues to push herself while also encouraging the students around her and celebrating their successes.

Her positivity, resilience, and willingness to support others truly represent what CARES is all about. We are so proud to recognize Lauren as our Student of the Month and can’t wait to see where her journey takes her!

We’re proud to recognize the 1st and 2nd place Cosmetology and Barber students who completed the most haircuts during our annual Cuts for Kids event!

These students went above and beyond during two days of community service, putting their skills to work and providing professional haircuts to children across Tulsa as they prepared for the new school year.

Their hard work, time, and talent helped boost confidence, spread kindness, and make a difference for so many local families.

Alumni Spotlight: Kenya Carter

From learning the foundations of fashion at Clary Sage College to creating her own runway shows, Kenya Carter is putting her creativity and passion to work.

Kenya’s journey took her from hands-on learning at Clary Sage College to New York Fashion Week and eventually to building her own fashion career right here in Tulsa. One of the tools that helped make that journey possible? A sewing machine she won during a competition at Clary Sage College.

Today, Kenya is the owner of K.Nicole and continues to create, design, and bring her vision to life through fashion. Her upcoming runway show, Fashion, Not War, uses fashion, storytelling, and music to share a message of peace, unity, and love.

We’re so proud to see where her creativity has taken her and how she continues to turn the skills she developed at Clary Sage into something uniquely her own.

Keep creating, keep pursuing your passion, and keep designing your future, Kenya. We’re excited to see what comes next!
