It’s almost time for the October Free Market!🍁

Join us on 10/10 from noon-3pm

If you plan to attend the event, please take a little time to read a few reminders:

FRIENDS:
When we said ALL your friends are welcome at the markets we didn’t mean to include the bugs from your garage/storage/etc. PLEASE DISPOSE OF DIRTY, BUGGY, OR BROKEN ITEMS ELSEWHERE. Kindly understand we do not have the capacity to throw away boxes of community trash. Please donate responsibly. No donations accepted after 2pm.

PARKING:
The market is located on a fairly busy one-way street. Parking is available on both sides of the street, but please only park where there are curbs. (NO parking where there are no curbs.) Also please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the street. There is also alley parking available past/behind the venue.

LIBRARY OUTREACH:📚
The Tulsa city County library will be joining us again this month. Make sure to check out their book carts and sign up for a library card if you don’t already have yours as they provide access to many resources! 

SKILL SHARE:
If you would like share a skill or offer a SERVICE please send us a message. In the past we have had yoga classes, haircuts, sewing demos, face painting, jam bands, free notary and more!

POTLUCK:
Anyone can bring food/snacks or drinks to donate to the food pantry, the potluck lunch, or direct outreach. If you plan to bring something homemade, please also include an ingredients list so those with food sensitivities/allergies can be aware.

VOLUNTEERING:
Our biggest need for volunteers is from 2:30 to 3:30 to fold clothing and pack up and out the leftover donations and drive them to the appropriate local outreach or organization.

🌱9/19, 11a-2p, at the Guthrie Green🌱

We have been invited to participate in Seeds Of Hope! This is an event being hosted by the 11th grade class at Riverfield Country Day School. These young activists are making their first attempt to organize our community, and we are very excited to support this effort!

We will be set up from 11a-2p on Saturday with free clothes, shoes, hygiene supplies, and Narcan. Anyone in need of resources can come and get free stuff!

They tell me there will be food trucks at the event. When a meal is purchased at a food truck during the event, it will pay for a meal for a neighbor in need.

Beyond distributing Aid to our neighbors, we will also be working to connect with the other orgs at the event. If we're going to improve the environment in our community, it will take all of us working together.

We hope yall can come out and support this effort, and, if you see a student organizer, tell them "good job for doing something meaningful!"

Here is a description of the organization:

Rita's Refuge is a Sapulpa-based Direct Aid Organization dedicated to collecting contributions to be distributed as Aid for Homeless individuals and individuals at-risk of homelessness in the Sapulpa and Tulsa areas. We provide non-religious, trauma-informed, person-centered Aid and support.

We distribute Aid for replacement IDs, Driver's Licenses, and Birth Certificates. Often times missing IDs and Birth Certificates are the first barrier to gaining housing, healthcare, or financial assistance. Also, we distribute food, water, and other supplies to our homeless neighbors.

You can sponsor a replacement document or other supplies with a $35 contribution, but anything helps!

For information about applying for Aid, you or your Case Manager can send a request for aid to [email protected].

All monetary contributions go directly toward providing Aid for our neighbors. Please make a contribution today!

September is here! 🌻

Join us for the next free market on September 12th, noon-3pm.

•We will continue to accept donations of snacks and hygiene items for student/teacher pantries and other local outreaches such as Rita's Refuge, Tulsa Food Not Bombs, & BeHeard Movement.

•All donations are accepted from 11:30-2pm. Items should be easy to carry and should be nice enough to give to a good friend or your sweet old nana. If any items are dirty, smelly, stained, buggy, or broken we will not accept them. Do not bring to dispose of.

•If you would like to volunteer, share a SKILL or offer a SERVICE please send us a message. In the past we have had yoga classes, haircuts, sewing demos, jam bands, and more!

•If anyone has tables they would like to bring this month we will have space inside (fcfs before noon) and out front (no time requirement). Please message us in advance if you plan to bring a table for inside.

•Show up with the intent to be kind (check your ego) and respect the other community members and the venue as well as space outside the venue. The event building is located on a fairly busy one way street. Street parking is available on both sides of the street. Please no parking where there are no curbs as you might be blocking a neighbors driveway, which we do not want to do. If the main street is full there is alley parking to the north.

•Bags, masks, bathrooms, and trash cans are always available (please pick up after yourself) and if you need assistance finding any of them please ask.

Next Saturday on Route 66!!

🗣Snow Cone Fundraiser! Saturday, September 5th, 10a-4p!🗣

We are partnering with Wimpy’s Sandwich Shoppe in Sapulpa for a Snow Cone Fundraiser! On Saturday, September 5th, from 10a-4p, we will be set up at Wimpy's doing Aid Distribution and Fundraising!

Wimpy's will be selling Snow Cones from their stand in front of the restaurant. Rita's Refuge will receive $1 for every Snow cone sold!

Regular Snow Cones are $3.50, and Larges are $5.50. If you like what we do and you want to see us do more, come buy a Snow Cone to support our organization!

Yall should also go inside and get some lunch too! I usually get the BBQ sandwich with a side of beans. 😋

While the fundraising is happening, we will be distributing free resources under the cover of the outdoor dining area.

We will have free clothes, shoes, hygiene supplies, pet supplies, Narcan, and more, for our neighbors in need. If you are living paycheck-to-paycheck and you're running out of supplies a few days before payday, come see us and get some free supplies!

Lastly, we will be running a raffle. Tickets will be $1 each, and right now, the top prize is a free full service oil change from J&A Castrol L**e Express. We will be adding 2 more prizes soon. Stay tuned for those announcements!

📚Come visit the Library at Free Market!📚

TCCL will be joining Tulsa RRFM again this Saturday the 11th, noon-3pm at Mass Movement. They will be giving away books, signing up folks for library cards, and sharing resources.

Additionally the market will have elementary teacher resources and elementary aged books to give.

For our OKC neighbors 🖤

It’s time to clean out your closet! We are hosting a clothing swap THIS SATURDAY, July 11th at the OKC Farmers’ Public Market from 10am-3pm as part of OKC Farmers Market District’s Upcycling Minifest! Bring your clean, gently used, pre-loved items (clothes, shoes, accessories) to swap with us, then “shop” for free! “Shoppers” are welcome even if you don’t swap. Please no undergarments, ripped or stained clothes along with clothing with offensive wording. There will also be a mender there, a book swap, a tool swap, and more! Can’t wait to see ya’ll there 🙌
