Pat Banzhof and Kim Campbell, Assistance League’s Operation School Bell Chairs, recently congratulated forty-two students from Memorial and McLain High Schools who received Assistance League of Tulsa Scholar Awards!

Click on the pics to see the full photos!

All of them will graduate with high school AND TCC associate degrees. Mortar board hats off to them!

This year, our $40,000 allotment helped the 42 Tulsa High School students. According to TCC, the number of credits accrued or attempted during the Spring semester by our EDGE kids, ranging from the Class of 2026 to the Class of 2028, was 396 credits toward college. 😃

(The EDGE program is currently available at Memorial, McLain and has just added Will Rogers high school. They hope to add more schools in the near future.) 🌿

This is an Operation School Bell educational program supporting TPS students concurrently enrolled in high school and college coursework.

In the past, students attending Tulsa Community College were eligible to have their TCC coursework fees covered, which was great.👍

BUT THIS YEAR:

We were approached to participate in the EDGE (Earn a Degree-Graduate Early) program. Students in 8th grade are allowed to sign up for this program and must submit a 500-word essay, provide a letter of recommendation, and maintain at least a 3.0 or higher-grade point average throughout this process. Students begin their college preparatory coursework in their sophomore year and continue to take college courses in their junior and senior years.🔥

Good thing to support right?

Assistance League volunteers celebrated each other and Cinco de Mayo with a catered luncheon and Style Show on May 6. The ensemble pieces all came from our own Bargains Thrift Shop, and the models were our members, volunteers, and customers. The enjoyment was shared by all. Many thanks to the AL Hospitality Committee for coordinating the event. And, a special thanks to Fashion Show creator and curator, Dayon Smith.
