Tulsa properties along Route 66 are now eligible to receive a grant to improve exterior building facades.
Ahead of the , the Tulsa Route 66 Commission has announced the expansion of the Façade Matching Grant Program to include properties along the historic highway stretch that were built before 1980.
Eligible properties can receive a 1:1 matching reimbursement of between $10,000-$40,000 to further advocate for heritage tourism and historic preservation along Route 66.
Eligible properties must be zoned commercial, industrial, or mixed-use and be primarily visible from the Route 66 public right-of-way.
The grant covers the cost of eligible restoration expenses such as restoration or replacement of façade elements, windows, lighting, and masonry. Once an application is submitted, reviewed, and approved, construction should begin within six to 12 months.
The funding for the program comes from the Vision Tulsa Route 66 Revitalization Project.
