I believe the reason so many are adverse to the gospel of grace is because it takes the illusion of control away from the believer for results.

Instead it makes faith necessary in new ways-mainly that we trust Jesus with our growth, merit, provision, righteousness/qualification and we do not get the false-comfort of being able to help move that dial in the right direction anymore.

But no one asks why am I working so hard to move a dial that Jesus has claimed to have moved and perfected for us?

Why would we spend so much time, anxiety, and effort perfecting something that is already perfected by the perfect person? All the while, getting such poor results.

Grace offers a better way, but it will only be realized through real faith-letting go of our illusion that we (as imperfect people) can perfect ourselves and finally concedes that position and work to Jesus (the perfect God man).

And when we do we do not find He begins His work, no! Instead we find He has already finished it-it was done before we needed it-and with that revelation we awaken to the truth as believers in His gospel-we are placed in Christ and there everything is already new and we are discovering how new He has made us and all around us.

That said, make no mistake, the illusion of control to better our righteous standing by our works must be disposed with-we can only cling to Jesus and His work which is finished already and enter into that reality. Thank God there are those brave enough and sober minded enough to still follow the Master! -Chris Wagoner
