Healthcare costs aren’t just a healthcare issue—they’re a small business issue.

In his latest commentary for The Washington Times, U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. President & CEO Ron Busby, Sr. examines how soaring health insurance costs are putting increasing pressure on entrepreneurs and small employers.

Nearly 1 in 5 small-business owners and self-employed workers rely on ACA marketplaces, while rising premiums threaten to discourage entrepreneurship, limit hiring and expansion, and make it harder for small businesses to compete for talent.

For Black-owned businesses, the stakes are even greater. Collectively, Black-owned businesses support approximately 1.8 million jobs nationwide and play a critical role in creating economic opportunity and mobility in our communities.

As Busby writes, business owners shouldn’t have to choose between taking care of their employees and investing in their companies’ future.
