The Good Samaritan of Tullahoma is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 Charitable Organization charted in 1985 as a way for churches of all denominations, local businesses and citizens to work together to have a centralized location to provide assistance to those in need or in crisis situations in our community. Our mission is “To Give a Hand Up – Not a Hand Out”.
The Good Samaritan is overseen by an Executive Board which includes a Pastor and laypersons from participating churches. The day-to-day operations of the Ministry Programs and Our Thrift Store are overseen by our Executive Director Cindy Kinney.
We do not receive any government assistance.
Ministry Programs
Relief Aid- We provide assistance for those in need and crisis situations with utilities, rent and some medications. Last year we provided funds to help pay utility bills for 322 families, and housing expenses for 80 families.
Dignity Campaign -provides basic cleaning, and personal hygiene items, Project Baby Boom provides baby supplies (formula, diapers, wipes, and baby food).
Animal Harbor - provides dog and cat food for our four legged friends who also may be in need of our support. Last year we assisted 408 families through these three programs.
Project Help– Project Help encourages Tullahoma residents to add $1 or more to their monthly utilities (gas, electrical) bill payment. We administer Project Help donations in partnership with the Tullahoma Utility Authority and Elk River PUD by providing support to the elderly and disabled to help pay their utility bills.
Food Pantry – We operate a food pantry where families in need are given both perishable and non-perishable food.
Last year we provided food to 949 families with much of the food donated through our supporters -local churches, businesses, and direct financial contributions.
Thrift Store
Our Thrift Store is operated by a small number of employees and volunteers. The Thrift Store sells donated clothing, shoes, purses and jewelry. Ninety-five percent of our clothing is sold for a dollar or less; and may be purchased for much less on special sale days each month.
We also sell donated furniture and household item through “The Shed” located behind our Thrift Store.

We strongly believe that it is our responsibility to help those who may have lost hope. We offer encouragement and support, provide them with counseling on household management, and identify social agencies to help with special or specific needs. We try to connect clients with resources, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, or information about available jobs.
The Good Samaritan of Tullahoma directly helped 4,669 people in 1,765 families during our last fiscal year June 1st 2017 through May 31st 2018.
Ministry office is open from 9:00 am to noon Monday – Friday. Thrift store is open 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Tuesday – Saturday
