2026 Tullahoma Sports Council Hall of Fame Honoree Spotlight:

Tullahoma High School Freshman Price Harden is the 2025 TMSSAA State Champion in shot put, winning with an impressive throw of 44.5". He also placed third in discus and helped set a relay record at sectionals. A true multi-sport standout, Price is known not just for his talent, but for his leadership, encouragement, and ability to elevate everyone around him.

2026 Tullahoma Sports Council Hall of Fame Inductee Spotlight:

A record-breaking Tullahoma athlete and former Ole Miss running back, Maurice Shaw returned home to pour into the community that shaped him. Once back home, Shaw chose his calling, teaching and coaching young athletes to work hard, lead with character, and “always choose to do the right thing.”
One of the most dominant players in Tullahoma history, Shaw rushed for 5,469 career yards and 67 touchdowns, holding multiple school records, and was a standout baseball player with back-to-back all-district honors. Today, he continues to inspire the next generation through faith, discipline, and devotion to his players and hometown.

2026 Tullahoma Sports Council Hall of Fame Inductee Spotlight:
David Hess, a Tullahoma High School standout and former Major League pitcher, played for the Baltimore Orioles, Miami Marlins, and Tampa Bay Rays. A dominant senior at THS and star at Tennessee Tech, Hess was drafted by the Orioles in 2014 and went on to make his MLB debut in 2018.
Off the field, Hess has inspired many through his courageous battle with cancer, sharing his journey publicly and celebrating his most recent scans showing no evidence of disease. A fighter, a believer, and a beloved Tullahoma native, David Hess’s legacy extends far beyond the mound.

2026 Tullahoma Sports Council Hall of Fame Inductee Spotlight:

Milner Russell Carden, known simply as “Coach” to generations of Tullahoma athletes, dedicated over 30 years to Tullahoma City Schools as a teacher, mentor, and multi-sport coach. A Navy veteran and standout MTSU athlete, he built powerhouse football, track, and cross-country programs at East Junior High and Tullahoma High School, earning undefeated seasons, regional titles, and state champions.
Carden was instrumental in developing Grider Stadium, shaping Tullahoma athletics for decades to come. Remembered for his discipline, humor, and deep love for coaching, he left a lasting legacy on thousands of students and the entire Tullahoma community.

2026 Tullahoma Sports Council Hall of Fame Inductee Spotlight:

Gary Barfield’s career has truly come full circle. The former Motlow softball head coach and current Tullahoma High School softball coach is a Tennessee College Coaches Athletic Association Hall of Fame Member. During his 14 seasons at Motlow, Barfield led the Lady Bucks to a 526–233 record, the program’s only TCCAA Championship (2009), and its first-ever NJCAA Softball Championship appearance. A Tullahoma High alum and standout multi-sport athlete, Barfield went on to play at Columbia State, Motlow, and UT-Martin, where he still holds the single-game home run record.
After coaching baseball at Motlow, he took over the Lady Bucks’ softball program in 1997 and built a nationally recognized team with multiple conference titles, coach-of-the-year honors, and NJCAA Top 20 rankings. Barfield says the program’s family atmosphere, community roots, and the players themselves are the heart of his success.
Since 2013, he has led Tullahoma High School softball, proudly coaching his daughter and building a program respected across Tennessee.
