The Rotary Club of Tulia had the privilege of packing about 40 food boxes at Joseph’s Storehouse Food Bank Thursday, October 15th. Our members were put to work making sure each box included: cooking oil, condiments, canned foods, beans, drinks, rice, cereal, tuna, chicken, and much more.

Regular Distribution Times
• 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month: Open from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. No appointment is necessary for these distributions, which provide prepacked food boxes (including meats when available).
• Monday through Thursday (By Appointment): Open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This option is strictly by appointment only (no walk-ins allowed), and households are limited to one appointment every 30 days.

Perishable & Surplus Distributions:
◦ 1st and 3rd Mondays: Fresh, perishable items are received and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
◦ Every Friday: Surplus perishable food is available starting in the morning while supplies last.

To be eligible to utilize the resources at Joseph’s Storehouse Food Bank you must complete an application and provide proof of residency in Swisher County.

For Emergency Assistance: Emergency food boxes can be requested outside of regular hours if an urgent need arises.

Rotary Wednesday brought us insight into two excellent organizations that fully exemplify Service Above Self!

Joseph’s Storehouse Food Bank, represented by Tyson Willis, is a local food bank located at 111 S. Austin Ave in Tulia that provides foods to any individual or family in need. The only requirement is proof of residency in Swisher County. The poverty level in Swisher County is sitting at roughly 31%; more than double the statewide poverty rate of 13.8%. The Food Bank operates as "A hand up, not a hand out" and is eager to offer that hand to whomever is in need, regardless of their background. Joseph's Storehouse participates in the Ministerial Alliance and works closely with local churches and Tulia ISD.

On the first and third Monday's of each week, Joseph’s Storehouse Food Bank receives deliveries of perishable items that are distributed on a first come, first serve basis to ensure those items are kept as fresh as possible. The second and forth Thursday's from 5 pm - 7 pm, Joseph’s Storehouse Food Bank provides prepacked food boxes, including meats when available. Then, EVERY Friday, a surplus of perishable foods are provided while supplies lasts.

**Emergency boxes are always available when a need arises!**

Joseph’s Storehouse Food Bank is a subsidiary of the Tulia Love Fund, a registered 501C3 organization. Monetary donations and food donations are always accepted and are highly coveted. Currently, this biggest need is assistance with A/C. With the summer temps really ramping up, cooling the Storehouse to keep foods and volunteers in comfortable conditions has been difficult. If you are able to offer any assistance in that area, please contact Tyson Willis.

We were also joined by David Philips from Our Blood Institute at Coffee Memorial Blood Center to share the news of an upcoming blood drive at Swisher Memorial Healthcare System. Our area is experiencing a blood shortage, so all donations of any blood type are in high demand! Blood donations are being used to save lives within a three day window, currently. Every drop counts! Stop by the Bloodmobile on July 2nd in the North Clinic Parking Lot from 9 am - 2 pm to donate if you're able. All donors will walk away with an All-American tee, a bag chair, and two tickets to Six Flags in OKC ❤️🤍💙

Our last Student and Teacher of the Month for the school year are two wonderful young ladies from Tulia Elementary School! Congratulations to music teacher Mrs. Mikayla Adams and 3rd grader Jeasabel Moreno 🎉🎉🎉 They took a quick break from Water Day to celebrate their accomplishments with us. Keep up the great work, ladies!

If you would like a flag placed at your home or business six times a year for the low, low price of $40, you can fill out this form and mail a check to PO Box 561 or pay via Venmo to -Rotary-Club. If Venmo-ing, please list the physical address of the location you would like the flag in the memo.

NEW this year, we are offering our country friends the opportunity to join in on the Patriotism! If you live within the east and west County lines and FM 214-FM 928, we will deliver a flag before the first flag distribution date (Memorial Day) and pick up after the last flag distribution date (Veteran's Day) for you to place as you see fit.
***We kindly ask that the flags not be rolled up wet and to be taken care of to the best or your ability.***

All proceeds are used to fund scholarships and programs for Tulia Rotary Club, Tulia Kiwanis Club, and Tulia Chamber of Commerce.

We love celebrating the students and teachers of Tulia ISD! Congratulations to our April Student of the Month, eighth grader Mia Briones, and our April Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Predina Grantham who is the Eighth Grade ELAR teacher at Tulia Jr. High 🎉🎉 These ladies exemplify the "PROUD" vision at Tulia High School: Productive, Respectful, Organized, Understanding, and Determined.

We were also joined by Kristal Washington, the Secretary and Treasurer, from Tulia Youth Sports. In it's second full year of providing a sports outlet for our youth, Tulia Youth Sports has been able to offer and support basketball, baseball, football, soccer, and even hosted the Miss Winter Fairy Pageant in December 2025. They have worked hard to develop a strong program that each participant and parent can be proud of! You'll see President Tony Powell, Vice President Peewee Winkfield, and Secretary/Treasurer Kristal Washington, along with board members Bryson Session, James Yarbrough, Mariah Martinez, Brooklyn Yarbrough, Jacob Yarbrough, Steffanee Vargas, Zeke Trevino, and Markeyla Rodriguez on game days and at practices coaching, refereeing, setting up, cleaning up, and cheering on the young athletes in our community. The meeting rounded off with a donation to the Swisher Area Foundation in support of the upcoming celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 The Swisher Area Foundation is hosting this family-friendly celebration on July 4th, 2026, at Tule Creek Park (across from MacKenzie Park to the west). Come out for cakewalks, three-legged races, corn hole, horseshoes, live entertainment and more!
