We love celebrating the students and teachers of Tulia ISD! Congratulations to our April Student of the Month, eighth grader Mia Briones, and our April Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Predina Grantham who is the Eighth Grade ELAR teacher at Tulia Jr. High ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ These ladies exemplify the "PROUD" vision at Tulia High School: Productive, Respectful, Organized, Understanding, and Determined.

We were also joined by Kristal Washington, the Secretary and Treasurer, from Tulia Youth Sports. In it's second full year of providing a sports outlet for our youth, Tulia Youth Sports has been able to offer and support basketball, baseball, football, soccer, and even hosted the Miss Winter Fairy Pageant in December 2025. They have worked hard to develop a strong program that each participant and parent can be proud of! You'll see President Tony Powell, Vice President Peewee Winkfield, and Secretary/Treasurer Kristal Washington, along with board members Bryson Session, James Yarbrough, Mariah Martinez, Brooklyn Yarbrough, Jacob Yarbrough, Steffanee Vargas, Zeke Trevino, and Markeyla Rodriguez on game days and at practices coaching, refereeing, setting up, cleaning up, and cheering on the young athletes in our community. Follow their page to stay up-to-date with all the excitement!

The meeting rounded off with a donation to the Swisher Area Foundation in support of the upcoming celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ The Swisher Area Foundation is hosting this family-friendly celebration on July 4th, 2026, at Tule Creek Park (across from MacKenzie Park to the west). We spent our lunch hour Wednesday with bright smiles and a small glimpse into the innerworkings of Tulia Police Department.

Congratulations to our Student of the Month, Sophmore Mariah Briones and to our our Teacher of the Month, Amy Garcia who teaches Culinary Arts! These two ladies were chosen by their peers and coworkers as the top tier of the cake at Tulia High School ๐ŸŽ‚ Mrs. Garcia and Mariah, while living out two different roles at THS, put their whole hearts into every sport, class, group, and competition they are involved in. We are so proud of y'all!

"We are small, but we aren't podunk." - Chief Brown

Chief Brown was our esteemed speaker Wednesday giving us a recap of the 2025 year for Tulia Police Department.

The mission of Tulia Police Department is to serve in partnership and with the support of our community, in an effort to protect all citizens. We will recognize and respect the constitutional rights of all and will uphold local, state and federal laws, while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standard.

In 2025, Tulia PD received 8,423 calls for service. This was a 57% increase over 2024! Of those 8,423 calls, 745 incident reports were filed. There were 562 citations written in 2025 with an additional 819 warnings. Thanks for those warnings! With 12 Major Crimes in 2025, local law enforcement saw a 65% clearance rate. "Clearance" means a suspect or suspects have been identified, arrested, and cases have gone on to our County Attorney.

Moving back to those 8,423 calls for service for Tulia Police Department....the Tulia Police Department Telecommunications Center received 27,492 calls in 2025 PLUS an additional 3,632 9-1-1 calls. Wow! The Tulia Police Department Telecommunications Center provides service for 17 entities through Swisher and Briscoe Counties. They answer ALL incoming calls and maintain TCIC files for Tulia PD, Swisher County S.O., Kress PD, and Happy PD.

Tulia Animal Control is another hard working branch of the Tulia Tulia Police Department. Our local Animal Control officer was able to see to it that nearly 200 animals were rescued, reclaimed, or adopted in 2025. The State of Texas recognizes the Tulia Animal Shelter as a no-kill shelter due to the extremely low euthanasia count of 3 for both 2024 and 2025. Thank you, Officer Boudinot!

Being a police officer isnโ€™t just a job โ€” itโ€™s a commitment to our community. Thank you to each member of the Tulia Police Department for all you do!

We hope you all left with full bellies and full hearts Saturday at breakfast with Santa ๐ŸŽ…

This is a โ€œfunโ€draiser for the Club and we so enjoy all the happy faces every year. We served about 200 parents, grandparents, friends, aunts, uncles, and kids. Santa sure loved getting to hear from all the littles (and a few adults)!

Thank you to the Tulia Jr. High Student Council for all the help and to Patrice Sims for being our beloved photographer ๐Ÿ“ธโค๏ธ

Check out the Breakfast with Santa 2025 album to find your favorite photo.
