Scarlett Parks Foundation Rett Syndrome is debilitating neurological disorder diagnosed almost exclusively in girls and occurring in one of every 10,000 female births in the world.

Cycling for a cure:

Why cycling for a cure? My journey started on Superbowl Sunday 2016, when I decided to take a 5 mile bike ride to a 5k run I was participating in. After the run, while riding back home, I was overcome with emotion that my granddaughter, Scarlett Parks, would never be able to run, ride a bike or maybe even walk or talk. While on this ride, I asked God to show me what I could do

to help find a cure. He promptly showed me that I was riding a bike and that should be the tool that I use to raise awareness and money to find a cure. It is my goal, this year, to ride in several races and raise money to find a cure, looking for donations and sponsors to help with the goals set on this journey. After my ride in 2016 I was approached by donors for a 501(c)3 status of which we made the decision to become a true, documented, non-profit organization. We are now known as the Scarlett Parks Foundation, EIN 814182449. My prayers are to raise as much money as I can and help find a cure for Rett Syndrome.

More encouraging news, this time from Neurogene 💜

At the 2025 IRSF Rett Syndrome Scientific Meeting in Boston last week (June 9-11, 2025), Neurogene shared an encouraging progress update on its NGN-401 gene therapy program—a potential one-time treatment designed to address the underlying cause of Rett syndrome.
