DU gathered this week with our fellow participants in the Unemployment Navigator program, which was created to help diverse communities navigate barriers to accessing the state's unemployment insurance system. As one of 9 community-based organizations in the Navigator program, DU staff trained up to support drivers, and through our participation we've assisted more than 5,000 drivers with information, education, and support around unemployment benefits.
Because drivers fought for our rights, we have benefits like this we can rely on when things go wrong. Something outside your control that prevents you from driving doesn't need to be a catastrophe, you can contact your union and get help accessing benefits so you have support while figuring out next steps. Thank you to our partners at Washington Employment Security Department and the 8 other community organizations that participated in the program!
