Consumer Reports' in-person testing in Portland (in partnership with Drivers Union OR!) found Uber & Lyft taking 43-49.5% of fares, even though a majority of Americans think most or even all of the fare should go to the driver. Not a good deal for drivers, not a good deal for consumers. 😡💸

Consumer Reports found Uber and Lyft use algorithmic pricing to give different consumers very different prices for the same rides.

DU gathered this week with our fellow participants in the Unemployment Navigator program, which was created to help diverse communities navigate barriers to accessing the state's unemployment insurance system. As one of 9 community-based organizations in the Navigator program, DU staff trained up to support drivers, and through our participation we've assisted more than 5,000 drivers with information, education, and support around unemployment benefits.

Because drivers fought for our rights, we have benefits like this we can rely on when things go wrong. Something outside your control that prevents you from driving doesn't need to be a catastrophe, you can contact your union and get help accessing benefits so you have support while figuring out next steps.
