Our amazing Celebrations Committee hosts potlucks throughout the summer to help our staff connect with and celebrate each other outside of the office.

As we wrap up summer and gear up for the upcoming busy school year, our staff spent some much-needed time together in Seward Park to share delicious food and enjoy the sunshine.

Thank you to all of our SOWA staff for your ongoing commitment to the youth development field and the many providers and programs we serve and support across the state!

Share some love for SOWA and our dedicated team in the comments! 😇

The Refugee School Impact Program (RSIP) has accomplished so much over the past year, and we’re excited to share some highlights. Our latest RSIP data placemat emphasizes key accomplishments and opportunities that will help guide our work in the upcoming year.

The data reflects the dedication of our RSIP team, whose work supports providers working with refugee students and their families, and our data and evaluation team, who turn raw data into meaningful insights that help us celebrate successes and identify opportunities for growth.

We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and look forward to building on this momentum in the next grant year.

Our request for proposals for Early Refugee School Impact grant is open. Proposals are due August 14, 2026, by 5pm PST. Check out our website for grant requirements to see if your program is eligible. Schoolsoutwashington.org

SOWA Summer Potluck ☀️😎

The SOWA team gathered at King County Parks Five Mile Lake Park to enjoy a relaxing break from the office to soak up the sun!

We always appreciate opportunities like this to connect outside of work, enjoy great food, and strengthen the relationships that make our team and workplace so special.

In addition to the delicious food, we played co****le, and a few adventurous team members even dipped their toes in the lake. This time of year, the water is surprisingly warm and perfect for cooling off! 🌊
