Arizona Conservation Corps

AZCC engages young adults and recent era military veterans with conservation service work projects on public lands.

In 2014, Coconino Rural Environment Corps and Southwest Conservation Corps Sonoran Desert Region joined to form the Arizona Conservation Corps (AZCC), which now operates conservation service programs across Arizona that empower individuals to positively impact their lives, their communities and the environment. AZCC has program offices in Flagstaff and Tucson. Arizona Conservation Corps, a program

of Conservation Legacy, aims to continue the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s. AZCC is focused on connecting youth, young adults and recent era military veterans with conservation service work projects on public lands. Our programs promote personal growth, experiential learning and an ethic of natural resource stewardship while incorporating the guiding principles of community, dedication, challenge, integrity and FUN!

What a great time at the Flagstaff office as we celebrated the Spring and Summer Crews at their graduation last week! 🥳👏

We cannot thank our members (now AZCC alumni) enough for all their hard work and wish you all the best in your future endeavors. We also want to extend a huge thank you to all project partners, loved ones, and anyone else who contributed to an amazing season. 💪Congratulations!

Last week, AZCC tabled at the Cipkam O'm-Nenda Employment Conference hosted by the Tohono O'odham Nation One Stop Division. We connected with community members and shared information about the opportunities we offer.

For National Intern Day, we are spotlighting our Individual Placements who are working directly with AZCC, increasing our organizational capacity and learning valuable workforce skills!

These IPs are working in Flagstaff, Phoenix and Tucson offices. They work on a range of projects, including supporting our IP program, coordinating outreach efforts, and planning events for crew members.

This week’s highlight is for Crew 398! 🤩

As we are close to wrapping up the summer season, Crew 398 had the opportunity to work with various project partners such as the City of Flagstaff, Kaibab National Forest, Friends of the Verde River, and Grand Canyon National Park! Their project work included fencing, invasive species removal, sandbag collection, and chainsaw work to create fire breaks. 💪

While working near the Hualapai Mountains, a crew member expressed, “I am taking away my gained understanding of what land agencies do to help with fire prevention and appreciate all the hard work it takes to keep our public lands safe.”

Almost to the finish line! Let’s continue to cheer on our crews and the hard work they have accomplished. Good work! 👏
