ICYMI: Gathering with so many incredible people from across the nonprofit spectrum of Southern Arizona never fails to be the thing that reminds us of how joyful and vital supporting this work is. Everyone who came genuinely dialed the spirit of community at our CORE & Comunidad Celebration, and we can’t thank you enough for celebrating with CFSA.

ICYMI: Taking a group photo is always a bit of a challenge, that rises depending on just how many people you’re trying to take a photo of. In the case of our annual CORE & Comunidad Celebration group shot, that means getting roughly 150-180 people to pose (and hopefully not blink) in unison! Easier said than done, but when you have an absolute fun-loving pro like friend of CFSA Manuel Ruiz Photography, well… it winds up actually being a great time!

CFSA is NOW HIRING an Administrative Support Coordinator!

The Administrative Support Coordinator provides high-level administrative support primarily to the Executive Office, Finance, and Philanthropy departments, including schedule coordination, senior leadership support, board committee administration, and internal and external communications.

The Coordinator supports finance- and philanthropy-related administration, working closely with senior leadership, board, and committee members, donors, and staff across departments. This position requires strong organizational skills, discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while collaborating effectively across departments.

HAPPY PRIDE! June is, of course, National Pride Month, and while Tucson has held a variety of great LGBTQ+ & Pride-focused events that traditionally land in the fall, we thought this would be a great time to revisit the amazing work of CFSA’s LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund, which has provided more than $1.4 million dollars in grants to nonprofits in support of Southern Arizona LGBTQ+ programs and initiatives since 1999!

SAVE THE DATES FOR SAEPC SUMMER SERIES! Each summer, the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona (CFSA) partners with the Southern Arizona Estate Planning Council (SAEPC) to host a special learning series for Professional Advisors. This includes attorneys, accountants, trust and investment advisors, insurance brokers, and financial planners who want to deepen their knowledge and stay current on issues that matter to their clients.

It’s a chance to connect with peers, expand your expertise, and gain practical strategies to help clients in meaningful ways! Session I (Planning with Real Estate) is July 24th, and Session II (International Estate Planning) is Aug. 14th, both at CF Campus from 8:00am to 11:30am.

Today, we share a story from David Fife, Director of Community Engagement for Roots and Roads Community Hospice Foundation, which is a 2026 CORE Grant Recipient. David discusses how challenging it can be as a nonprofit to service something most people do not like discussing: end of life care, dying, grief, and bereavement.

This makes for an uphill struggle with funding, as Roots & Roads have learned over the last 25 years, and that makes their 2026 CORE Grant all the more gratifying as an affirmation of the critical work they do providing necessary services to vulnerable populations.

Last week, our Meet the Candidates forum brought together Arizona Legislative candidates from both sides of the aisle in LD17 and LD20 to meet voters and discuss the issues face-to-face in an informal, nonpartisan manner, with help from our friends Becky Pallack (AZ Luminaria) and Caitlin Schmidt (Tucson Spotlight), along with CFSA President & CEO Jenny Flynn and Danyelle Khmara, Regional Lead for Press Forward Southern Arizona.

Happy 4th Workiversary to our Campus Manager par excellence, Kjersten Erickson! Kjersten wears many hats while tending to the needs of nonprofit tenants, juggling scheduled events, and other daily functions of our beloved CF Campus, always doing so with extraordinary compassion, an impressive eye for detail, and in consummate professional style.

We’re incredibly lucky to have her managing our headquarters and making it such a welcome place for all. Thank you for your stellar effort, Kjersten!
