Gathering with so many incredible people from across the nonprofit spectrum of Southern Arizona never fails to be the thing that reminds us of how joyful and vital supporting this work is. Everyone who came genuinely dialed the spirit of community at our CORE & Comunidad Celebration, and we can’t thank you enough for celebrating with CFSA.

Massive thanks once again to Manuel Ruiz, for once again capturing so many delightful moments. Check him out here at Manuel Ruiz Photography!

(If you missed it, check out yesterday's behind-the-scenes reel taken while getting the group photo!)

Last month, planting the seeds of renewal was the focus for CFSA President & CEO Jenny Flynn. For May, she’s feeling inspired by graduation time in high schools and colleges across Southern Arizona, and the work of a vast array of youth service-oriented nonprofits whose work remains a generational focus of CFSA, many of which were recipients of 2026 CORE & Comunidad Grants.

Learn how you can support a nonprofit youth champion of your choice and more in this inspirational edition of The Steady Saguaro, right here: https://cfsaz.org/2026/05/the-steady-saguaro-graduation-time-setting-up-the-next-generation-with-maximum-impact/

TAKING A GROUP PHOTO is always a bit of a challenge, that rises depending on just how many people you’re trying to take a photo of. In the case of our annual CORE & Comunidad Celebration group shot, that means getting roughly 150-180 people to pose (and hopefully not blink) in unison! Easier said than done, but when you have an absolute fun-loving pro like friend of CFSA Manuel Ruiz Photography, well… it winds up actually being a great time!

We’ll show some of our favorites from his work that day in a carousel tomorrow!

As Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month draws to a close, we thought we’d beat the drums one more time on behalf of our Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Fund (APIDA). The APIDA Fund, held at CFSA, strengthens and uplifts our communities in Southern Arizona, ensuring that both current and future generations can thrive. (This clip is from their launch event last year, with the UA’s Odaiko Sonora performing live!)

Save the date now for their 2026 event, October 22nd, and learn more here: https://cfsaz.org/apida/

Ask an Expert: Restorative Circles (June 23rd at CF Campus) will share how ORID (Objective, Reflective, Interpretive, Decisional) methodology can spark curiosity, helping people feel seen and valued, and giving leaders the tools to create a restorative circle wherever they lead. It's an intentional sequence: experience it, learn what it is, then leave with the framework to build it yourself in this on-campus Center for Healthy Nonprofits session.

Today CFSA welcomes Drew Krewer, our new Senior Manager, Philanthropic Strategy & Operations! Drew grew up in rural South Georgia on a u-pick orchard, and has since lived all over America. After attending Oberlin College for his BA, Drew found himself landing in Tucson to complete an MFA and MA at the University of Arizona.

He has over fifteen years of experience in archives, information management, and non-profit data strategy, having worked at the Getty Research Institute, University of Houston, and the University of Arizona Foundation. He is grateful that his work allows him to contribute to an organization that provides essential support to the communities and vibrant cultures of Southern Arizona, where he has found himself most at home, living in Tucson since returning in 2017.

Welcome aboard, Drew!

It is Tuesday, and today’s testimonial comes from Megan George, Executive Director at the Amphi Foundation, which received a 2026 CORE Grant! Megan shares how this unrestricted grant gives a small organization like hers the breathing room to lean into their fundraising, channeling that into programs that benefit Amphi students and educators across the district.

It’s another story that lends itself powerfully to CFSA’s mission to foster generational impact, by raising the prospects for youth in Southern Arizona.

Congratulations to the Amphi Foundation! For more on CORE Grants, explore here: https://cfsaz.org/grants/core-grants/
