ICYMI: It was a lovely night at the 2026 Tucson Civic Champion Dinner at Hacienda del Sol, as our President and CEO, Jenny Flynn, accepted the Nonprofit Impact Award, surrounded by her family, leadership team, and members of CFSA's Board of Trustees.

Special thanks to our hosts, The Arizona Democracy Resilience Network and Mormon Women for Ethical Government - Arizona, and to everyone who came out to celebrate Jenny’s leadership and CFSA’s efforts!

ACTION ALERT: Once again, CFSA needs to hear from nonprofits across Southern Arizona through our Nonprofit Funding Assessment, which is open for responses through Sept. 16th.

The information you provide will help us understand how federal, state, local, and philanthropic funding changes are affecting nonprofit organizations throughout the region. Together, we can ensure that nonprofit experiences and perspectives inform decision-making, strengthen community support systems, and guide future investments in the sector.

The best person to complete the survey is your executive director/president or a designee of your chief executive, taking roughly 10-20 minutes. Our goal is to get the broadest view of your organization.

Complete this here: https://www.jotform.com/form/262097607473161
And feel free to share with your nonprofit peers/colleagues/friends!

THANK YOU, HUMANS OF BOOK CLUB: We’d like to thank everyone who turned out for last night’s terrifically topical Solutions-Focused Community Book Club, discussing Karen Hao’s Empire of AI. It was a truly engaged gathering, and we were delighted to see that nearly half of the people there were first-time attendees!

Massive thanks go out to our panelists, Taunya Villicana, Dr. Josie Milliken, and Aaron Eden for elevating the conversation around this one. Book Club returns in late October, you can RSVP for that NOW right here: https://cfsaz.org/events/solutions-focused-community-book-club

This month’s The Giving Project collaboration with KGUN 9 and Pat Parris KGUN focuses on Clinica Amistad, a free health clinic that opened in March of 2003 serving Tucson’s low-income, uninsured communities.

Their mission is to provide free primary health care, preventive services, and education to those in need and without access to health care throughout the greater Tucson area.

Join the Center for Healthy Nonprofits virtually on Sept. 29th for Advocacy 101: Public Charities Can Lobby! When our laws and policies work for us, our communities win. Nonprofits have a close-up view of community needs and can and should take advantage of their right to influence law and policy.

After this workshop, you will have a clear understanding of what advocacy activities your 501(c)(3) can engage in, what communications count as lobbying, and how to maximize your non-lobbying advocacy. RSVP here: https://cfsaz.org/events/public-charities-can-lobby
