GFWC-AZ has a program to benefit children
and shelter animals. Arizona club members
are challenged to start reading as part of the
Read to Daisy & Maxx program. Each club gets
credit for the number of minutes that are read.
This program uses the simple act of reading
aloud to help shelter animals feel calmer and
less frightened—making it easier for them to
connect with potential adopters.
The program also encourages children to
practice reading aloud in a fun, nonjudgmental
way, strengthening their reading skills— all
while helping shelter animals.
