We are excited and honored to be participating in this year’s campaign to support Thoroughbred aftercare.

Desert Oasis Rescue is currently home to 23 Thoroughbreds on-site, along with additional horses in foster homes! Every donation directly supports the rehabilitation, retraining, and sanctuary of the horses in our care.

We are excited and honored to be participating in this year's Gallop for Good campaign led by Churchill Downs Incorporated!

As many of you know, Desert Oasis Rescue is home to 23 Thoroughbreds on-site, along with additional horses in foster care. Every day, we are privileged to provide rehabilitation, retraining, sanctuary, and second chances to horses who need them most.

We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from our community, donors, volunteers, and partner organizations. Because of that support, horses arrive at our facility in need of care and leave healthier, stronger, and ready for their next chapter. For those who need lifelong care, we are proud to provide a safe sanctuary where they can thrive.

Gallop for Good is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Thoroughbred aftercare and the organizations dedicated to these amazing horses. 300k yearling by Candy Ride o/o Wasted Tears 1/2 brother to 2yo champ and stallion Corniche is now 10 years old and we’re desperately trying to find him a new home. With the horse loving, experienced horse people population on the decline in our area, finding suitable homes continues to be our main challenge. Luckily he’s being an absolute doll and may be this man’s forever trail horse. How quickly these horses drop off the radar post sale post track.. horses live a LONG time!! This 8yo sold for 230k KEESEP, ran 42-6-8-3 $266, retired sound after running at 14 different tracks. He’s had 20 months off on our little Desert Oasis and from day 1 we knew he’d make the transition well being a kind, smart, sound Constitution gelding if we could just find the right fit. After one failed trial of him being kind of crazy in a box stall, loosing weight then popping an abscess, we are so pleased to see him happy and in great hands with his new owners. It’s like he knows what’s best for him. And so important to give these OTTB’s a chance. Good boy! 🩵

Convention, a now 8yo came to us a year ago after a solid career at the track with 42 starts with 6 wins earning 268k at 14 different tracks. He has moved into his retraining and is still looking cute! He was a barn favorite then and still has that personality. Www.dorescue.org
