Happy World Food Day!

Sunnyside Education Association is proud of our district's commitment to feeding every student a free breakfast and lunch every school day.

Hungry students struggle to learn. Fed students have a better chance to focus and see academic success!

Prop 320 targets public school district's portion of the Classroom Site Fund. The Classroom Site Fund (established by Prop 301 in 2001) is funded by a 0.6% sales tax. Public school districts like Sunnyside use the Classroom Site Fund to raise teacher salaries, reduce class sizes, and student support services like counselors, social workers, and school psychologists.

In Sunnyside, this fund is used to pay a portion of teacher salaries (currently $11,000 per year) as well as yearly performance pay stipends.

Prop 320 does not provide new or additional monies.

Our executive team meets today. We appreciate their service to helping us grow our union!

Prop 320 will negatively impact Sunnyside Unified School District because we are in Pima County and we we have more than 7500 students. This proposition does not county necessary student supports like transportation, the health office, counseling, air conditioning, SROs and monitors, or academic or behavior intervention supports including speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy services.

Welcome back for Quarter 2, Sunnyside!

What will you be leaving in Quarter 1? What will you be keeping this quarter?

Today is World Homeless Day.

Students who are inadequately housed are supported by the federal law known as McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

Our classrooms should be places of welcome and connection. For students who do not have stable housing, routines and consistent welcome are important.

If you or someone you know is experiencing housing instability, Sunnyside offers resources to support you in the Federal Programs Office.
