A big thank‑you to our neighbors who decorated heart‑shaped pavers and placed them along the labyrinth, brightening the path and sharing a little love with everyone who walks it.
Each one is a reminder that kindness multiplies when we put it out into the world. Have a good weekend and hope to see you at the ice cream social tomorrow!

It’s too hot for ice cream in the park in June, but it’s never too hot for connection.
Join us on Sunday, June 14 for an Ice Cream Social hosted in the cool, welcoming space of our generous neighbors at Fountain of Life Church.
Strong neighborhoods grow from simple moments of showing up, sharing a treat, and getting to know the people who live around us. Every hello makes our community safer, kinder, and more resilient: the kind of neighborhood where people look out for one another.
Ice cream’s on us - and we won't forget the sprinkles!

Today we opened the Mama Blair Courts, rooted in a mother’s love and a son’s remembrance, with a poignant ceremony that held so much heart and gratitude.
Then we shifted from reflection to celebration and found ourselves out on the court, shooting hoops and laughing with neighbors. We had such a great time with the 1994 Wildcat stars, Joseph Blair, Corey Williams and Reggie Geary.
And check it out… our Council Member Paul Cunningham's got game.
Honoring our past, investing in our future.

Thank you Palo Verde Park neighbors!
You showed up with heart Friday night to celebrate the completion of bond investments in our park, and it meant a lot to see our community come together in that space we’ve all cared about for over so many years.
If you missed the celebration, KGUN 9 captured some of the fun and the story behind these improvements. Here’s their coverage: https://www.kgun9.com/news/community-inspired-journalism/eastside-news/palo-verde-park-is-new-and-improved-after-nearly-5-million-in-renovations-on-tucsons-eastside
These upgrades were made possible because Tucson voters passed Proposition 407, providing more than $3 million for this project. Additional support came from $1.06 million in impact fees, $500,000 in City Framework Funds, more than $100,000 in Green Stormwater Infrastructure Funds, and about $40,000 from the Ward 2 office.
And that was just Friday.
This morning at 9 a.m. we're jazzed about the opening of the Judith “Mama” Blair Basketball Courts, a modern, covered four‑court complex inspired by the vision and generosity of Coach Joseph Blair, honoring his mother’s legacy of love and community. This project was funded through general funds, $250,000 from Ward 2, and more than $100,000 in private donations.
Together, these investments brought us:
• New and replacement LED ballfield lighting
• A fully upgraded irrigation system
• A new shaded playground
• Two full‑size basketball courts
• Three new pickleball courts
• 101 new trees across the park, including 42 on the Langley Parcel
• And now, a world‑class basketball complex that will serve generations. Thanks for showing up, friends!

Tomorrow at 9 a.m. our neighborhood will celebrate something truly special — the grand opening of the new basketball courts at our park, made possible by the generosity and heart of NBA Coach and former Wildcat Joseph Blair. His investment in our park - as well as the support from Paul Cunningham and the Ward Two office - is an investment in our community, our kids, and the future we’re building together.
The event is at Palo Verde Park just south of Broadway and Jessica. Go south on Jessica until the the road ends and you can't miss it!
We're honored to welcome an incredible lineup of former UA players — Joseph Blair, Harvey Thompson, Corey Williams, Reggie Geary, and former women’s standout Felicity Willis — all here to help us cut the ribbon and open the courts with real Wildcat spirit.
After the speakers, the courts will come to life as they're meant to, with the first pickup game played by talented high school athletes from Rincon, Palo Verde, and Sahuaro.
A huge thank‑you to everyone who made this investment possible. Please come and show everyone what community looks like.

BIG weekend at the park, neighbors, with two reasons to celebrate:

Friday, May 29 | 5:30 PM
Join the city as we celebrate the completion of improvements to our park, including pickleball courts and a refreshed children's playground (where we'll meet).

Saturday, May 30 | 9:00 AM
Be there for the unveiling of the brand-new basketball courts, dedicated in honor of Judith “Mama” Blair.

This Saturday is especially meaningful as we thank Coach Joseph Blair, a former Wildcat and generous community champion, for helping bring this incredible new amenity to our park.

Let’s show up BIG for the Blair family and celebrate what community can make possible. See you there!

Missed it last year? Here’s your chance!
Neighbors loved the Recycling 101 workshop when Tucson Environmental Services presented it to us — and several folks said, “I wish I could’ve made it!”
Good news: they’re bringing it back, this time at the Murphy–Wilmot Library.

Hey neighbors! On Friday, May 29 at 5:30 p.m., the city will be celebrating the end of construction at the park. The very next morning, at 9 a.m., there will be an unveiling of the new basketball courts in honor of Judith "Mama" Blair. We'd love to see you out there, and particularly on Saturday, so we can thank coach and former Wildcat player Joseph Blair for his generosity in bringing this amenity to our park. See you there!

Talk about an assist that changes the whole game.
NBA coach and former Wildcat Joseph Blair has stepped up in a big way, helping bring the new Judith “Mama” Blair Basketball Courts to life in the Palo Verde Park Neighborhood in honor of his mother’s generous spirit. With vision and support from Paul Cunningham, Ward 2 and the City of Tucson, this project is a win for our community. Props to all the former Wildcats and NBA players who contributed to make this happen.
Community, heart, and a legacy that lifts others: that’s what this effort represents. Stay tuned for details on a ribbon cutting at the end of the month.
