SA Greys sends its heartfelt condolences to Alina on her loss of Wes, known to us as Rex, last week.

Alina writes: “Though I’m completely and utterly crushed to have lost my soulmate dog, I am so grateful for the time we did have together and so grateful for SA Greys for having made the most perfect match ever when they selected him for me. Though we only ended up having 3 years together, it was filled with so much happiness, joy, and love. He went from being a shy, timid “spook” to a very happy, loving, cheeky, goofy boy and it was such an honor to have been matched with him and to have been able to show and teach him about the world. He was loved by everyone that met him and will be missed more than words can express.”

Maya, formerly Roma, sent us a TOT! Linda says she’s living the sweet life and will turn 9 years old next month.

We love updates! Always feel free to let us know how your greyhound is enjoying their retirement. Thank you, Nina, for this wonderful update for Penny Lane.

Nina writes: “We were blessed to get sweet Penny Lane (Peggy on her adoption papers) from SA greyhound. She has brought so much fun and love to our home. We were told she only raced 12 times because she was too playful; Penny will be 13 in November. She helped calm our Pharoah hound/Rhodesian ridgeback mix who had terrible separation anxiety until Penny came into our lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done and are doing for these wonderful dogs!”

Thank you, Nina, for giving Penny Lane a loving home and fulfilling retirement.

Today, SA Greys remembers the beautiful Chloe, beloved hound of Dennis and Ann, who lived an incredible 14 years, 8 months, and 12 days, and sends them our heartfelt condolences.

Chloe was a two-time winner of the “Boo-RooUnion Oldest Hound” contest, and she wore her crown with all the pride and grace of a true queen. She also was a gentle mentor to many SA Greys hounds, helping them learn the comforts of home and showing them the way with her calm, loving spirit. Her long life was filled with love, cherished memories, and the devotion of a family who adored her.

You will always be remembered as Boo-RooUnion royalty, Chloe, and will be deeply missed by everyone whose heart you touched.

I’ll start: here are three littermate sisters (l-r, Tara, Shilo, Georgia) I adopted who raced at TGP. In fact, I saw Shilo run a race 🏁 one cold November night in 2010. (See comments for full story.)

At the rising sun and at its going down; We remember them. At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter; We remember them. Today, we remember Lillie, formerly Millie, who recently passed at age 12.5. Our thoughts are with Jan and his family who are so grateful for the honor of getting to spend the last 10 years with her.

Lillie was one of the last greyhounds to come off the track at Tucson Greyhound Park. She was the queen of the household and the first one to greet Jan every morning.
