Global Medical Brigades at the University of Arizona - Professional Chapter Global Medical Brigades (Professional) leads students on interprofessional medical brigades to provi

Global Brigades is the world's largest nonprofit student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Medical Brigades develop sustainable health initiatives and provide relief where there is limited access to healthcare. Global Medical Brigades at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy heads the graduate and professional student medical brigades to Honduras, Panama, and Ghan

a. Last spring break, GMBCOP participated on their first medical/dental brigade where brigaders were able to provide health and dental care to 601 underprivileged Hondurans in the small village of Coyolito. UAGMBCOP is the first College of Pharmacy based chapter to have a medical brigade; running everything from intake, triage, physician consult, and pharmacy. It goes to show that pharmacy students and pharmacists can do more than "count and pour" and actually apply the skills students acquire in pharmacy school to do something that makes a difference. The main goal of this organization is to encourage interprofessional, team-based healthcare and we strive to work with medical, pharmacy, nursing, and public health students as well as medical professionals to provide healthcare to rural communities in Honduras, Panama, and Ghana.
