Mahjong, Margaritas & Mitzvahs was about so much more than a game night. 💛

As donations for Project Isaiah piled up, so did the reunions. Friends seeing each other, familiar faces catching up, and conversations picking up right where they left off.

There was laughter, hugs, and that unmistakable joy of being back together.
An ingathering in every sense of the word, generations of our community gathered around the same tables, doing good and having fun along the way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped support Project Isaiah. 🫶

Over the past several months, young people in our Tucson Jewish community have marked this important milestone not only by celebrating their B’nei Mitzvah, but by finding ways to make a difference beyond themselves.

Addison Richman collected toys for children receiving care at Diamond Children’s Medical Center, while Zaida Olive Phelps gathered items to support teens in foster care through La Paloma Family Services.

Amrit Levi Gibbons volunteered with Tucson Food Share to help feed people in our community, and Rafael Valdez Salomon raised funds to help a family living in the Kakuma Refugee Camp purchase farmland.

We at JPSA are so proud to celebrate Addison, Zaida, Amrit and Rafael, and the compassion, generosity and sense of responsibility they’re already bringing into the world. Mazal tov!

AgeWell Day is a morning designed for Southern Arizona adults 60+ to connect, learn, get moving, explore Jewish life, and discover community resources.

So, what can you expect?

AgeWell Day isn’t just one type of program. Each event brings together different opportunities for movement, creativity, Jewish learning, conversation and social connection, so you can choose what interests you.

At our upcoming AgeWell Day, sessions will include Holistic Yoga, Batik Challah Covers, Yiddish Language & Humor, Israeli Dance, Jewish Perspectives on Current Events, and more.

And you don’t have to come knowing anyone! AgeWell is also about creating opportunities to meet people and build connections within Southern Arizona’s Jewish community.

Know a parent, grandparent, friend or neighbor who is 60+ and might enjoy it? Send this post their way!

Please join us in welcoming Eddie Lange to JPSA as our new Chief Impact and Engagement Officer.

In his new role, Eddie will focus on strengthening engagement across Southern Arizona’s Jewish community and creating lasting impact.

For JPSA, meaningful engagement is about developing opportunities for people to connect, get involved, and recognize the role they can play in shaping Jewish life in Southern Arizona, now and for years to come.

We’re excited to have Eddie join the team and look forward to the experience, ideas, and perspective he’ll bring to this work.

What started with a love of LEGOs, video games, engineering and science has taken Tucson eighth grader Eithan Moss all the way to the national stage.

Eithan recently took third place in the eighth-grade category at the RTX Invention Convention U.S. Nationals for his invention, The Cooling Box, and was the sole recipient of the competition’s Energy Industry Award.

The idea behind The Cooling Box is ambitious: cool a room without electricity or moving parts. Inspired by the way termite mounds in Central Africa regulate temperature and by solar chimneys used in Zimbabwe, Eithan designed a system that uses sunlight and natural airflow to move hot air out while keeping cooler air in.

When Eithan encountered a major roadblock during the design process, he turned to his grandfather in South Africa, an engineer who helped him troubleshoot the problem and has been one of the inspirations behind his own love of engineering. Eithan and his parents immigrated from South Africa five years ago and eventually made Tucson home.

Less than 24 hours after returning home from nationals, Eithan was already back in his workshop, testing the judges’ feedback and improving his design.

He hopes The Cooling Box could one day become a simple, affordable way to help cool homes where traditional air conditioning isn’t accessible. He already has his sights set on studying nuclear and mechanical engineering after high school.

Tucson is incredibly proud of you, Eithan! 💙
