Rep. Adelita Grijalva toured the site of Hudbay's CopperWorld mine with Save the Scenic Santa Ritas. Powerful words that illustrate just how little the lives of Arizonans are valued by mining interests and the current Arizona government.

Outstanding article about the San Rafael Valley, the Border Wall, and the magical rally we held on November 15. I hope you find it as excellent as I do.

On a sunny and modestly warm day in mid-November, I have a clear view of the San Rafael Valley from high in Montezuma Pass in the Coronado National

Friends! In these horrifically cruel times, how do we maintain our commitment to fighting for the wild? Why does that even matter when we see US Citizens murdered in front of our eyes? This essay really buoyed my spirits and reaffirmed my calling to protect our home. I hope you find some solace and energy from these words.

But I'm going to keep doing it anyway.

Sending tax receipts to donors may be seen as a hassle, but I find joy in the manual process of getting them done. We're a scrappy band of activists fighting the ecocide at the AZ/MX border in the San Rafael Valley. Please support us by visiting our amazing website https://borderwallresistance.com and then donating at https://givebutter.com/borderlandsresistance. We're at 26% of our very modest goal. Your donation will allow us to keep the website up and to fund future actions to protect our wild places!

Follow this “Rally for the Valley” Instagram Page here for construction, conservation, and on-the-ground action updates.

Kicking yourself this morning because you didn't donate to a worthy cause on Giving Tuesday? I have a solution!
The Border Wall Resistance, a scrappy band of activists that the Broads have supported over many years, also has a fundraiser. I would greatly appreciate your consideration so we can continue this vital work. https://givebutter.com/borderlandsresistance

By donating to us, you will know where your money goes. Our campaign is for a modest amount, and we will:

Pay for hosting and upkeep of the newly-reworked website https://borderwallresistance.com
Pay for additional Rallies and campaigns at the newest section of the ecocidal border wall in the San Rafael Valley
We have no paid staff. Our vision includes a near-future where we can hire someone in the early stages of their career to help with curating news and information on the website.

Since April, when the devastating news about the wall buildout in the San Rafael Valley hit us, we have:

- Held a gathering at the site before the construction equipment moved in fully (May).
- Migrated the older website to a new platform and worked with an amazing designer to create a visually stunning website that showcases the Valley, its ecology, news articles, and photos.
- Nov. 15 we held the Rally for the Valley which attracted around 200 people. Chairman Austin Nunez of the San Xavier District of Tohono O'odham gave the opening blessing and remarks. Rep. Adelita Grijalva spoke passionately about this beautiful place. We welcomed artists, musicians and poets from varied traditions who conveyed their love of this valley and the importance of it to wildlife and human flourishing. Capping off the day were burritos brought by environmental activists from Sonora, MX!
- Expanded our network of thought leaders and visionaries, including the folks at Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (CELDF), who have been leaders in the Rights of Nature movement in the US.

Below are links to a couple of the great articles that were written about the Nov. 15 Rally. We are working on continuing campaigns, including additional Rallies, art and story.

Yesterday's Rally for the San Rafael Valley was amazing. We had a great turnout, and would have had more if the directions had not been incorrect. My deep apologies to those who tried to attend, got lost, and left. More pictures to come once everyone has a chance to regroup and replenish.

We have a gorgeous website too with tons of information and pictures. https://borderwallresistance.com/

Fundraising site is https://givebutter.com/borderlandsresistance - no expectations AT ALL but the hosting fees are expensive and we're trying to get it covered by donations.

Finally, I was on a podcast last week if you'd like to hear more about the event and the situation on the ground. You can listen to it from your computer or tablet. I think it turned out pretty good. https://www.90milesfromneedles.com/s4e40-the-battle-for-the-san-rafael-valley/

These pictures are from last Tuesday. So beautiful and heartbreaking.

The Senate has PASSED their version of H.R. 1 by a vote of 51-50. GOP Senators Tillis, Paul, and Collins joined all Democrats in voting NO. Vance broke the tie. This bill now returns to the HOUSE where Republicans are NOT united on the changes. There's still a fighting chance to KILL THIS BILL!

Things are changing so quickly, it's hard to stay on top of the various threats to our public lands. This is from Center for Western Priorities June 29:
“While the removal of Lee’s language is a big improvement, the Senate budget bill still contains a number of attacks on our public lands—including a provision that would allow oil and gas companies to lock up over 200 million acres of public land through drilling leases with no public engagement, and open the door to oil and gas drilling across the Arctic. The budget reconciliation process is far from over, and we’ll continue fighting to protect the rights of all Americans to access public lands and have a say in how they are managed.”

Call your Representative ESPECIALLY if they are Republicans. They need to know how outraged we all are. 5Calls is my preferred way to find my legislators and understand the current issues. https://5calls.org/

Alternatively, this is the AZ House list. https://www.azleg.gov/memberroster/

Thank you for all you do to stand up for our public lands. I'll be calling Rep Ciscomani after hitting send. Please take care of yourselves while continuing the fight. You are needed.

The Big Bad Bill is making its way to a vote this week. Please contact your Senators and urge them to vote no. Our Arizona Senators have stated they will vote no, but consider calling them to (1) thank them and (2) do what they can to sway their colleagues to block this horror.

If you have not found the 5 Calls app and website, it's an excellent place to find contact info & details on key issues. https://5calls.org/ 5 Calls

Spend 5 minutes. Make 5 calls. Make your voice heard.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate added a mandate to the budget bill to sell enormous swaths of public land managed by the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management
