Final devastating update on Lochiel. There is only one tree standing. No biologists on site to ensure nesting birds weren't murdered. No archaeologists protecting the millennia of artifacts and living history. Just hate and callous disregard of all that is good and beautiful in the world. I will indulge in despair for tonight before getting my head and heart back in the game tomorrow. 😭

Friends. There has been a group of activists holding vigil in Lochiel AZ for several weeks. Today the machines of destruction have torn down 2 trees but are being held off until Santa Cruz sheriff Hathaway (ally) is able to get there. If you are moved to join the witnesses now is the time.

There are archaeological sites being destroyed as well as the various nesting birds. It's heartbreaking.

The tree in the picture was taken down today.

Friends! In these horrifically cruel times, how do we maintain our commitment to fighting for the wild? Why does that even matter when we see US Citizens murdered in front of our eyes? This essay really buoyed my spirits and reaffirmed my calling to protect our home. I hope you find some solace and energy from these words.

But I'm going to keep doing it anyway.
