Representing jaguars in DC! For a screening of Borderlands Jaguar at The DC Environmental Film Festival!

“The border isn’t a black line on a map that divides us. It’s an incredible landscape that unites two countries and our wildlife.” – Ben Master’s

Saturday, March 21, catch a screening of BORDERLANDS JAGUAR at DCEFF!

This impactful new film follows wildlife cinematographers Austin Alvarado and Ben Masters on a quest to document the elusive species and show the importance of conserving wildlife corridors along the US-Mexico border. The stakes could not be higher.

On February 9th, Northern Jaguar Project’s administrative team, including Executive Director Lydia Lozano, Sahuaripa Headquarters Coordinator Walquiria Duarte, and Legal and Administrative Coordinator Beatriz Castro, were invited to meet with the Sonoran state commissioner of Ecology, Lic. Carlos Ernesto Zatarain Gonzalez and the state Conservation Director Norma Cruz to share with them NJP’s 20-years of conservation efforts in Sahuaripa, Sonora, where we are protecting the northernmost breeding population of jaguars in the world. We look forward to continuing the conversation with them to explore possible collaborations, and work together to better understand and protect the Sonoran Jaguar Biological Corridor, where the Northern Jaguar Reserve® is located.

🌟 Exciting Leadership News from Northern Jaguar Project! 🌟

We’re thrilled to welcome Lydia Lozano Angulo as NJP’s new Executive Director and announce the continuation of Roberto Wolf Webels as our Mexico Program Director. Together, they’ll lead a bi-national dream team dedicated to protecting wild jaguars and their habitat. 🐆🌿

After six inspiring years, we also extend our gratitude to Matt Skroch for his leadership as board president. Taking the baton are Lydia and Ben Wilder as our new board co-presidents, bringing fresh vision and deep conservation experience across borders.

These changes strengthen our mission and reflect our deep commitment to jaguar conservation at a time when it’s needed most.

💚 Thank you for being part of this journey! Stay tuned for a chance to meet our new leadership this fall.
