Our 2022 Award Winner
The Rabbi Samuel S. and A. Irma Cohon Memorial Foundation is proud to announce the winner of the 2022 Award for service to Klal Yisrael, the peoplehood of Israel. Rabbi Seth Farber, founder, and president of , The Jewish Life Advocacy Center. The Cohon Award Ceremony will take place during Erev Shabbat (evening) services Friday, January 27th at 6:30pm at Congregation Beit Simcha in Tucson, Arizona. You can contact Beit Simcha at www.beitsimchatucson.org. The Shabbat service and the Cohon Award Ceremony will also be broadcast on Facebook live.

A Modern Orthodox rabbi born in New York, Rabbi Farber has made his work in Israel vitally effective and important to many Israelis seeking full participation in the Jewish life in Israel. Among a number of candidates for the Cohon Award this year, he was unanimously and exclusively selected by our Board of Directors. The Foundation will be honored to welcome him to receive the 2022 award in person in the field of Unity.

Rabbi Farber’s creation, Itim is an extraordinary organization that works to build a Jewish and democratic Israel in which all Jews can lead full Jewish lives. ITIM is committed to helping people participate in central features of Jewish life, such as gaining official recognition as Jews, marrying as Jews, and converting to Judaism, and to improving government policies that impede access to these fundamental Jewish life passages for newcomers and for all those who need and seek acceptance. With the help of Itim, new "olim" (arrivals) and rural villagers and "geyrey tzedek" (sincere converts) become Israeli citizens equal to any resident of Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.

Mazal Tov to Rabbi Seth Farber! We look forward to an outstanding award ceremony on Friday, January 27th.

Sincerely,
Rabbi Baruch J. Cohon, VP
Cohon Memorial Foundation

AWARD EVENING is here!
The Rabbi Samuel S. and A. Irma Cohon Memorial Foundation will present its 2021 Awards to Mati Lazar and Joshua M. Greene tonight at 6:30 pm MST (8:30 EST, 7:30 CST, 5:30 PST. Link to the live broadcast below.)
Matthew Lazar is receiving the 2021 Cohon Award for his outstanding work in the field of
Creative Arts. The founder and director of the Zamir Choral Foundation, which has created excellent Jewish choral groups of all ages all around the world, and an exemplary producer, conductor and arranger of Jewish choral and cantorial music himself, Mr. Lazar has spurred the enthusiasm for, and development of, Jewish musical excellence in an enduring way throughout his career. The Zamir Chorals on four continents and their many recordings testify to his influence on Jewish music today and tomorrow.
Joshua M. Greene is the remarkable author of Unstoppable the inspirational award-winning biography of Siggi Willzig, who emerged from the Auschwitz death camp to surmount poverty, discrimination, and countless other challenges. Wilzig achieved prosperity for his company and power in his career, and he used his success to help his people. This book documents in dramatic detail how one Jew triumphed over the Holocaust. Mr. Greene, who has written extensively on the Holocaust in earlier non-fiction works, will receive the Cohon Award in the field of Education and Information.

The award ceremony takes place at Congregation Beit Simcha, Tucson, Arizona. It will be broadcast live on https://www.facebook.com/BeitSimchaTucson, and will be made available on www.CohonAward.com as well.
