Gootter Chair for the Prevention and Treatment of Sudden Cardiac Death. Donations will fund research and continue the mission of providing lifesaving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to Southern Arizona schools and other public places.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude to be chosen as a 2026 Opportunity Grant recipient! When we heard that beginning August 1, 2026, all Arizona high schools would be required to have AEDs at all campus and school-sponsored athletic events, we were thrilled that these student-athletes would have life-saving AEDs readily available. But when we realized state funding would not cover the need we knew we had to help and we knew we couldn’t do it alone. Enter . Thanks to their $65,000 Grant we will be able to distribute more AEDs to AZ High School athletic teams! Swipe to see Arizona HS teams, Salpointe Catholic HS Football, Nogales HS Baseball, Ironwood Ridge HS Girls Volleyball, and Pusch Ridge Football, who have already received AEDs from Gootter-Jensen Foundation. Gootter-Jensen Grand Slam Gala

The annual Gootter-Jensen Grand Slam Gala at the Westin La Paloma for an evening honoring 21 years of working to defeat Sudden Cardiac Death. The 2026 Gootter-Jensen Foundation Philanthropic Award recipients are G.S. Jaggi and Reema Jaggi.

The celebration begins at 6pm.

During this we are spreading the word about CHEST-COMPRESSION-ONLY CPR.
What is chest-compression-only CPR?
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure used to save someone’s life when their heart has stopped beating.
‍
Unlike conventional CPR, chest-compression-only CPR uses solely chest compressions rather than a combination of compression and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, making it simpler to learn and perform.

Our mission is to defeat sudden cardiac death (SCD) through increased awareness, education, scientific research and the distribution of AEDs and continues with the goal of widening the reach of our impact nationwide. The Gootter-Jensen Foundation was founded in honor of Steven M. Gootter, a beloved father, husband, and brother who lost his life to sudden cardiac arrest in 2005.
