📍Koh Mak Island, Thailand

Our FishCat expedition team recently conducted a conservation expedition on one of Thailand’s most remote and beautiful islands 🏝️

In collaboration with , we engaged with local conservationists and interns to better understand coral ecosystems and ongoing restoration efforts 🪸

We also visited a nearby Island called Koh Kood to observe a vital mangrove forest—an essential habitat supporting coastal resilience 🌳

As part of our work, we deployed trail cameras to monitor terrestrial biodiversity, and contribute to long-term conservation data 🐾

We’re proud to have shared our conservation approach with local landowners, primarily Mr Yodchai who supported the establishment of the 🚩FishCat Nature Reserve in Koh Mak 🗺️

Special thanks to Mr Yodchai and Chris from Coral Gardeners and our local partners and community members who made this work possible.

Have you ever seen a rusty-spotted cat in the wild? Head to Sri Lanka with us for a conservation expeditions (visit the Expeditions tab in FishCat.org), and you just might get a chance to see the world’s smallest cat with our partner Thusitha Weerasinghe — with years of experience, Thusitha follows a night-safari ethic like no other: whispers, hand gestures, and the use of red lights/headlamps to minimize spooking animals, and to increase chances of sighting elusive species like lorises and small wild cats 🐾

We’re thrilled to announce a new step in our journey to celebrate and protect the incredible biodiversity of Amandawa! 🐦🦎🐾 With the expertise and support of our amazing partners at **FishCat.org**, we’ve installed **animal movement cameras** across our estate. Once we’ve gathered some evidence on the possible/probable presence of fishing cats and other endangered species, the next step in our conservation process is to work with our community partners to setup wildlife cameras (also called trail cameras 📷) — while tracks 🐾 and s**t 💩 are indicative evidence, photos can provide definitive evidence on the presence of species like 🎣😸 and 🦦 Any guesses on the next step that we take? Here’s a clue: 🤝🛖
