Intern Impact: Supporting Recovery Through Compassionate Care
As a master’s student in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, Michaela joined OPCS in May to gain hands-on clinical experience supporting clients on their path to recovery and stability. During her internship, she participated in client intakes, behavioral health assessments, counseling services, and other activities that support a holistic approach to care.
Reflecting on her experience, Michaela shared:
"As a clinical intern, I had the privilege of participating in some of the many services that OPCS provides to its clients. Whether through employment services, program intakes, clinical assessments, individual and group counseling, or simply providing water and snacks to ensure client comfort, it was so rewarding to experience the many avenues through which OPCS serves clients with empathy and intentionality. Through this internship, I was deeply reminded that people are beautifully multifaceted, and it is my responsibility as a future counselor to care for the whole person, even beyond the therapy office."
