Meet Horton the Elephant: Kellen Tanner. Kellen takes on Horton in our Ham Cast, and we’re especially excited to celebrate him during his senior year at Catalina Foothills High School. This is Kellen’s fifth CYT production, following memorable turns as Max in The Sound of Music, Ladahlord in James and the Giant Peach, Ryan in High School Musical, and Rooster in Annie. He’s got the voice, the presence, and the kind of stage instincts that make us say: remember the name. Broadway may be calling in a few years.
Ham Cast performances:
Thursday, Oct. 22 – 9:30 a.m.
Friday, Oct. 23 – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 24 – 2:00 p.m.
Tickets: https://www.cyttucson.org/shows/
And a huge shoutout to The Gannes for the incredible production photography and to our amazing hair and makeup professional Amber Lackmann for helping bring these characters to life. Keep watching this week as we spotlight more performers from both our Ham and Green Eggs casts.

Meet Mayzie La Bird: Abigail Carnahan. Abigail takes the spotlight in our Green Eggs Cast, and this role is a perfect fit for one of CYT Tucson’s longtime performers. A senior at Catalina Foothills High School, Abigail has been performing for most of her life both with CYT and at CFHS. Favorite roles include Catherine Parr in Six: The Musical, Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Lily St. Regis in Annie, Earthworm in James and the Giant Peach, and Sandy Cheeks in The SpongeBob Musical. We are so excited to celebrate her senior year with one more unforgettable CYT role.
Green Eggs Cast performances:
Friday, Oct. 23 – 9:30 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 24 – 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 25 – 2:00 p.m.
Tickets: https://www.cyttucson.org/shows/
And keep watching this week as we feature more stars from both our Green Eggs and Ham casts.

Sylas takes the lead in our Ham Cast, and this one feels especially special. A longtime CYT performer and one of Tucson’s standout teen actors, Sylas has built an impressive body of work across the local theatre community, including Arts Express Theatre. He also serves as President of the student-led Rigby Theater Company, where young artists are creating and producing original work of their own. Now, in his senior year, Sylas gets to put on the red-and-white hat and lead us through the wonderfully chaotic world of Seussical. We are so proud of the artist, leader, and collaborator he has become, and we cannot wait for audiences to see him shine!
Ham Cast performances:
Thursday, Oct. 22 – 9:30 a.m.
Friday, Oct. 23 – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 24 – 2:00 p.m.
And yes, we have TWO casts. Keep watching this week as we introduce more of the incredible performers from both our Ham Cast and Green Eggs Cast.
Come cheer them all on. Tickets: https://www.cyttucson.org/shows/

Calling all youth performers: this one is built to fit your season!

By registering, performers will take six Winter Master Classes on Tuesday nights from November 17–January 12, 6–8 p.m., rehearse for The Lightning Thief on select Friday nights and Saturdays, take a holiday break, and wrap the production by the end of January, just in time for spring shows, activities, and school events!
Auditions: November 6–7
Performances: January 28–31, 2027
Pima Community College Center for the Arts

At CYT Tucson, more stage time means more chances to grow.
That’s why we love giving young performers real opportunities to shine, including two casts so more students get the chance to step into featured roles, take creative risks, and experience the thrill of performing for a live audience. Seussical is only THREE WEEKS away, and both casts are getting ready to bring Whoville to life. Come cheer on Tucson’s young performers and see what they’ve been building.
