Since 1986, The Tanque Verde Foundation’s mission has been to directly support and enhance the educational experience of students in the Tanque Verde Unified School District. This year, we reached an exciting new milestone in our commitment to students: for the very first time, the Foundation awarded two student scholarships to students who are planning to continue their education in STEM or Arts Fields. These awards reflect our belief in investing not only in classrooms, but in the individual futures of the students we serve.
Every applicant was exceptional, and in the end, the final awards were decided by scoring differences of less than one tenth of a point. That’s a testament to just how talented and driven the TVHS Class of 2025 is.
We are proud to announce the incredible recipients of our inaugural Foundation Scholarships:
Our $1000 Scholarship is awarded to Marie Wieser. Marie will be attending The University of Notre Dame in the fall, where she will participate in the Navy ROTC program and pursue a degree in Environmental Science.
Our $500 Scholarship is awarded to Katie Jennings. Katie is headed to The University of Virginia in August where she will pursue a degree in Biology.
We’re also thrilled to announce the beginning of a new partnership between the Tanque Verde Foundation and Tanque Verde High School alumni. This exciting collaboration begins with the creation of the Simon Field Curiosity Scholarship, a $500 award made possible by Class of 2020 alum, Simon Field.
Simon served on this year’s Scholarship Review Committee and he was so blown away by our candidates that he wanted to give back to his alma mater in a meaningful way—by supporting a student who embodies the spirit of curiosity, inquiry, and lifelong learning.
The winner of the 2025 Simon Field Curiosity Scholarship is Annika Koessler. Annika is heading to The University of California, Santa Barbara this September where she will major in Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics.
Congratulations to all three of these truly incredible Hawks! We are so proud of you!
