Planet Coexist Global Community,
We have some fun and exciting announcements for you all!
So, PLEASE... put down your multi-tasking talents and focus ALL your attention HERE!!!
Yes... on US!
;)
Ooooooh, we like that!
;)
OK... you ready???
;)
So, as many of you know, we have a FUN and exciting spring coming up, with LOTS of great programming and powerful events, and LOTS of opportunities to plug in and make a difference in the world... specifically the Tucson community!
(But don't be shy, if you are not from Tucson, read on, and see what leadership opportunities there are to grow this program to YOUR community.)
So, here it is:
In the next 3 months we will be...
1) Offering a Site Leader Training for those of you interested in becoming Earth Walk Green Program Tree Planting Site Leaders - Saturday, March 1st, at Columbus Park, Tucson, AZ
* If you already are one, we could use your help to teach the new-bees! (Bzzzzzzzzz)
* We will be planting 30 trees that day, at Columbus Park
* Volunteer Food Coordinator: We need someone to make a few calls to see if there is a HEALTHY food company that would be willing to FEED all of us AMAZING new Site Leaders and Trainers for the morning.
2) Planting the remaining trees for the City-Wide 2013 "Be Kind" Tree Challenge, at 9 parks and 1 large nonprofit site - Saturdays, March 15th, 29th & April 5th in Tucson, AZ
* Beyond the Site Leaders we need VOLUNTEERS. If you want to help plant trees or sign other volunteers from the community, but don't want to be a Site Leader, we would love to have you join us for any of those dates.
* Volunteer Coordinator(s) - We need one or two people who would be willing to make a few calls to some schools, nonprofits, businesses, etc. to assign 9 teams to each of the park plantings. This should be REALLY easy AND fun! We already have some great leads, and some groups might want to plant trees at MORE than one site!
* Sponsor Recruitment - We need folks to help in getting sponsors for the 9 tree planting sites. Kristina Randquist is leading this team, but we need other folks to help. We have amazing sponsor packets, and team members will receive a $50 appreciation for each Tree Planting Sponsor collected. Sponsorship is $350 per park, and there are sponsor deals for sponsoring more than one park. This is a great to earn money and help a great cause! let us know if you want to help.
* Volunteer Food Coordinator: We need someone to make a few calls to see if there is a HEALTHY food company (or companies) that would be willing to provide snacks at any, or ALL, of the tree plantings. Making calls to folks like New Life, Aqua Vita, the Food Conspiracy, Whole Foods, Sprouts, etc.
3) Hosting an AMAZING "Tree Festival" at TreeHouse Farm (In partnership with Bookman's, the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona, Tucson Young Professionals, TreeHouse Farm, and many others!) as a great Grand Finale to the City-Wide Tree Challenge and all its plantings - April 27th, 11am - 5pm, in Elgin, AZ
* If you are interested in being a part of the Steering Committee for that, come join us February 10th, at 5:30pm at the Maker House, in Tucson, AZ.
* If you are not interested in being a part of the Steering Committee but want to help out in other ways, please let us know. This party will be LOTS of fun!
4) Anna's Healing Groves (St. Joseph's Healing Groves & Meditation Gardens)
* As most of you know, our proposal to build a 4-part Healing Grove & Meditation Garden at St. Joseph's Hospital has been APPROVED! If you are interested in sitting on the Steering Committee for this project, let us know. The next meeting is February 7th, at noon, at St. Joseph's Hospital. The Steering Committee will meet once a month.
* In addition to St. Joseph's Hospital, there are 4 other sites for tree planting, as a part of Tzadik's sister's healing groves. After this weekend (the reason our Executive Director is in California - planting 18 trees at Menlo College, for his sister) we have 2 other locations to plant at, other than St. Joseph's Hospital, in Tucson, AZ. We could use help in coordinating these other two plantings.
5) Green Team Leadership
* As you can see, we have a LOT going on, and we're ready to transfer some leadership into the hands of the community - yes, that's YOU!
* We are looking for people who are interested in serving this community through the following roles:
- Green Program Chair
- Green Program Vice-Chair
- Green Program Treasurer
- Green Program Secretary
- Green Program Committee Chair (Tree Challenge, Tree Festival, Tree Keepers Society, Membership, etc.)
If you are interested in serving the community in any of the above roles, please contact us.
While we are currently focused on programming in the Tucson community, we are ready to bring a larger community to the table, to start bringing Earth Walk Green Program events and programs to YOUR community! So, join our team and help us GROW!
....
Thank you for taking the time to read this all the way through!
