Celebrated on the second Monday in October, Indigenous Peoples' Day serves as an opportunity to honor Native Americans, as well as to recognize the impact colonization and later government actions have had on indigenous groups. There are over 600 Tribal Nations recognized in the US, each with its own language and traditions. AAZK celebrates the cultural diversity and contributions of our indigenous members.

The IOC had a handful of committee members present at this year's recent AAZK National Conference in Tacoma, Washington. We were honored to represent and share stories and information about the work we do in providing resources and opportunities for our Latin American animal care community counterparts. Thank you to those who stopped by our table to chat and to those we met casually throughout the conference. And a huge thank you to Point Defience AAZK chapter for hosting an amazing conference.

Until next year.........
