Lydia Gates, Flagstaff/Flagslam poet, won 2nd Place in the Form Poetry Slam this morning! YAY for LYDIA!!

Our Arizona Slam Team has done really well at the BlackBerryPeach Slam in Overland, KS! Skyelyn Riggs-Davis won the Underground Slam late Friday night. And Frankie Markie came in 4th in the BBP Slam finals Saturday night (today). Tomorrow will be the Form Poetry Slam! Whoo-hoo to everyone who competed and congratulations to the winners!

Announcing Arizona State Poetry Society’s 2026 Annual Youth Contest!
Submissions accepted starting January 15, 2026 through the
Deadline – March 31, 2026

Open to all Arizona students, grades 1-12 with no entry fee for the contest. Poems can be on any topic with a limit of three submissions per person. Poems written in other than English must include an English translation.

Prize Awards: Cash prizes awarded to First, Second and Third Place Winning Poems in grade brackets: Grades 1-4 Grades 5-8 Grades 9-12

Winning poems will appear in Sandcutters 2026, Anthology of Arizona State Poetry Society. Winners will be notified in May 2026. We will send a complimentary copy of Sandcutters at the end of the year.
