Poem from original anthology Winter in America (Again

J. Luther Jett

Slouching Moon

Moon half-eaten
gapes in amaze
over brown fields--
spider's lattice binds
barn and steeple.

Invisible train howls--"I come, I come"
Our second winter--
deeper, darker
than the first.
