The children were spellbound as "Cactus Hotel" was read by the grandchildren of one of our Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists. Then, they made a fun cactus puppet, and were able to see baby saguaros, saguaro fruit & seeds, and the insides of a saguaro.🌵

Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists had the honor of walking in Summerhaven's 4th of July Parade for the 3rd time. We had a great time and very much enjoyed the cooler temperatures of Mt. Lemmon along with the enthusiasm from the crowds lining the parade route.
A huge thank you to the Mt. Lemmon Women's Club for inviting us back!

Special guest Penny Packrat read a story and shared the treasures in her midden with the children at Summer Storytime today. Later, everyone made their own back packs & stuffed them with treasures to take home.
**Also, a cute size 5 shoe was found in the parking lot and is at the Lost & Found in the Visitor Center.**
Next week we read about saguaros! 🌵🌵🌵

What a fun time everyone had at Summer Storytime on Wednesday. We heard all about frogs and toads and sang a delightful counting and jumping song. For a craft we all made our own ponds with a log and frogs.
Join us next Wednesday, July 1 at 9am in the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center. We might have a guest appearance by Peter Packrat's sister Patty! 🐹 We may even get to visit their midden home and see all their treasures! 🥄🛎🌟🕰🪨🎗🎁🎖🪅🖼🪀🔮✨️👑💎🔔🪇💡🪎

We have had to temporarily take down the bird feeders at the Palisades Visitor Center due to a rascally coati. We hope the feeders with be back up soon, the birds are missing them already.

Still plan to visit the Palisades Visitor Center. Come inside to check out the wonderful Mt. Lemmon information.

Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalists will still be on site Saturday with Ask a Mountain Naturalist (9-noon) and Sunday with Bird the Lemmon (8-noon).

Join the hike this Friday which will start at 8am at the Marshall Gulch parking lot on Mt. Lemmon. Since this lot will be closed for renovation starting July 6th, this is our last chance to enjoy it this summer!

We’ll hike the 4-mile Aspen Loop in reverse, going up Aspen and down Marshall Gulch. It will be hot, even at that higher elevation so bring plenty of water. We’ll stop for a short lunch or snack break 😋.

For carpooling or caravanning meet at the McDonald’s parking lot at Tanque Verde and Catalina highway by 6:45. We depart there at 7am.

The Ask a Mountain Naturalist table got off to a great start of the season today! Naturalists Jim and Roxanne wow'd the crowds at the Palisades Visitor Center with their knowledge of all things Mt. Lemmon.
We also had a special guest visitor, Mr. Gould's Turkey!

Join us each Saturday from now until end of August, 9 am to noon at the Palisades Visitor Center. It is a great way to learn about our favorite backyard mountain as well as get out of the Tucson heat.

See you soon!
