Throughout the pandemic, ARC continued serving those facing financial hardship providing mortgage and rental payment assistance to keep people in their homes and protecting vulnerable adults from homelessness and exploitation. As a HUD Housing Counseling Agency, we have saved thousands of people from foreclosure and and losing their homes in their older years. Since ARC's beginning in 1988 and the passion of founder Kay White, ARC has been committed to responding to the community need and concern for elders in crisis due to physical, mental, and social challenges they face. Throughout our history ARC has been providing services that address social justice and advocating for the needs of elderly community members suffering emotional, financial, or physical abuse and in need of urgent care, housing, protection, and safety. An average of 250 elders each month get immediate help by calling ARC's 24/7 Elder Crisis Line (520) 339-2801 in Pima County to receive professional case management and referral services from our Elder Shelter Coordination Project, partially funded by Pima County and Arizona Department of Public Safety. ARC began playing an important and critical role keeping people in their homes and avoiding foreclosure statewide as a HUD Housing Counseling Agency after the real estate and stock market crash in 2008. For the next 10 years, ARC helped thousands of families in Arizona stay in their homes and overcome the risk of foreclosure due to financial hardship. ARC's counseling and mortgage payment assistance, coupled with lender advocacy helped many Arizona families avoid a housing crisis. Still headquartered in Tucson, ARC is now a nationally recognized HUD Housing Counseling Agency and an affiliate with UnidosUS to continue providing housing assistance with a focus on low income and Latino populations. ARC proudly continues as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides housing and financial counseling statewide and remains committed to provide information, resources, and choices to Southern Arizona's elders through donation funded programs.
