IGMD Interviews — October
Our monthly meet-ups have transformed into interviews with guild members and other professionals of our field. Join us online this month, October 11th, as we converse with Juan Mata.
Juan Antonio Mata is a Spanish ballet pianist, composer, and specialist in stylized Spanish dance. He graduated with top honors from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid and holds a doctorate in Dance Music from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, where he spent ten years as a Senior Professor of Music, researching and developing musical practices for dance. He has worked extensively as a pianist, arranger, and composer in ballet, Spanish dance, character, and contemporary dance, collaborating with institutions and companies including the Víctor Ullate Ballet, Ballet Nacional de España, Compañía Nacional de Danza, English National Ballet School, Central School of Ballet, Swedish National Ballet School, and Alicia Alonso Dance Institute. He currently teaches Dance Accompaniment at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid and has also worked in television, film, and other performing arts productions.
