Grace Falls Farm welcomes the newest member of the sanctuary. Meet Domino, and we need your help with him!

Domino came to the Farm on September 17th and has been settling in with the rest of the herd. He is well kept, well fed, and has a sweet, gentle disposition that makes him an immediate favorite. So why did he need to come here?

Every horse has their own unique story that brings them to the Farm, and Domino is no exception. Domino comes from a program that provides equine-assisted activities and therapies to individuals with special needs. He hadn’t been there very long when he started showing signs of distress while under saddle. Known for taking the best care of their horses, the program engaged the same amazing veterinary services that Grace Falls Farm utilizes.

After several months of x-rays and exams, it was determined dear Domino had a condition known as “Kissing Spine”, where the bony projections on the vertebra can touch or “kiss” each other. While this can be a manageable condition, it meant Domino should no longer be used in ways that would cause him any discomfort.

The veterinarian discussed the outlook for Domino, and the program put Domino’s interests at the forefront to find him a place where he could live his best life. Knowing of Grace Falls Farm and our Equine Sanctuary, the veterinarian brought the two programs together for the good of one amazing horse.

A trial period ensued to ensure Domino was comfortable in his new surroundings. The wide-open hilly terrain at GFF is great for most horses’ muscles, hooves, and mental well-being, but it might not have been ok for Domino’s condition. Fortunately, two months later, Domino is happily trotting around the paddock and interacting with the rest of the horses. Domino now calls this sanctuary home.

Where do you come in? First, pray for our new boy! Domino’s health requirements will be more than most, with the need for more expensive trimming and veterinary requirements. Domino also loves to eat, just like everyone else here, and our hay funds are tight. Find your friends that love horses and share with them that there’s another horse on the block that needs a sponsor. Make a one-time donation. Become a sponsor yourself!

We are led by God, funded by donors, and powered by volunteers. Every dollar is donated, every hour is volunteered, all of it going directly toward our mission to Rescue the Horse, Mentor the Child, and Heal the Hearts of Both, and all of it making a difference. YOU make a difference!

47 Out of 48 Feet Are Just Fine...

For over 20 years, the horses at Grace Falls Farm have never missed a day of being cared for. We are always on the clock. Still, every horse gets a cut or a scrape or gets sick from time to time, and on occasion those injuries and sicknesses are significant, even life threatening.

The foot pictured had an abrasion that was tough to heal, but at the time of this writing the bandage is off, and the injury is almost entirely healed. That foot, however, belongs to June, one of our newer rescues; and June has cancer, a sickness she won’t heal from. Still, we are always on the clock and won't stop caring for her. We will be with her every step of her final journey and ensure the last mile of her trail is the best it can be.

Every day we continue to watch over and care for a herd of rescued horses you have entrusted us with. Even when you don’t hear from us, we are still doing the same every single morning, afternoon, evening, and sometimes through the night.

If you keep up with "The Herd" on our website, you’ll only find 44 feet, but we mentioned 48? Where’s the other 4? Keep checking in as the newest rescue arrived just last week!

Grace Falls Farm is counting down to something big, something different, and something we have never done before. 40 kids, 5100 feet in elevation, and 16 volunteers… and it starts today!

We have loved on horses and kids in many ways, including being associated with ABC Camp, a youth camp serving kids in southern Arizona for over 50 years. Unfortunately, the camp lost its land earlier this year, and the 25 acres known as ABC Camp came to an end. But while ABC’s land is no more, the kids didn’t disappear, they just no longer have a place to go.

See a need… fill a need… and give it a name. Meet ABC Legacy Camp.

Grace Falls Farm is sponsoring the next generation of ABC, continuing its legacy at a rented property still down in the beautiful mountain country of southern Arizona. We have the kids, we have the volunteers, we have the land and, hopefully, we have your help.

Many of the families do not have the $250 it takes to register. On a leap of faith, the Farm is sponsoring scholarships for those that need help. It’s not a freebie, the kids are earning their way by helping care for the horses (you just knew we’d have to mention horses!). They are feeding, they are standing up new fencing, they are doing whatever it takes to help lower their costs and be able to experience what few kids get to experience these days, a true camp environment!

While they are earning their scholarships, we can’t just turn horsehair into money, and here’s where you come in. We are asking any and everyone who has ever supported Grace Falls Farm to shoulder alongside of us and sponsor getting a child to camp. $250 covers one child’s costs for everything, including an experience that can’t be priced. You can support partially, fully, or any number of children. Give as you feel led!

And, oh yeah, it’s tax deductible. Did we mention that?

And… how much of every dollar actually goes to helping children? 4 quarters. 10 times. 20 nickels.
You get the idea, every cent. 100 percent of every cent. Zero overhead, period.

Same Horse - Different Mountains!
Some things don’t change at Grace Falls Farm. We still play with kids. We still care for rescued horses. What we started doing well over a decade ago… we are still doing. Rescuing horses, mentoring children, and healing the hearts of both.

Other things do change, sometimes so fast we can’t get the word out until after the fact. Take for instance that in July we visited Tucson, Arizona, as part of a family vacation and a time to volunteer.

Seven days, several churches, and one amazing church camp later, we realized there was a major opportunity for Grace Falls Farm to serve in Tucson.

Thirty days later, we found a location.

Another thirty days later, the move began.

Another thirty days later, fourteen horses stepped out of trailers onto nine acres that they now call their new home.

Not bad for 97 days. And now, finally having two seconds to rub together, we can finally announce that Grace Falls Farm has moved!

Our new address is 3100 S Quail Trail, Tucson, Arizona 85730. If you donate to the farm, first of all THANK YOU! Please be sure to update the address!

As the Farm turns quickly from one page to the next, some of the pages are harder to write than others. While new stories are opening, there are three amazing stories that have come to an end.

In October we finally had to say farewell to Breeze, the Farm’s longest standing horse in the history of Grace Falls. First arriving in 2004, Breeze welcomed every other horse into the Farm, and was sure to put them in their place, because nobody pushed him around, he just wouldn’t stand for it! Tougher than nails, Breeze survived several bouts of cancer, and lived well into his thirties.

Not a month later, we had to say our goodbyes to Munchkin, just a few weeks after arriving in Arizona. Also in her thirties, Munchkin finally decided it was her time to go. Ironically, she had been Breeze’s little buddy, and so when Breeze left, she must have realized that her time with us was also drawing to an end. Both Breeze and Munchkin were part of our “pellet gang”, needing softened food due to their age. We will forever miss their whinnies as the pellets were being poured.

Finally, very unexpectedly, Jedediah passed away. Jedediah suddenly went from being first in line at feeding time to no appetite. After hurried vet visits it was clear that our dear “Pooh Bear” of a horse was in grave condition, and he passed away peacefully that night. Never at any time did he show any signs of pain or discomfort, and the vet commented “his composure up until his passing is moving”. That was our Jedediah, and he will forever be remembered here at the Farm.

The horses we promise to care for, with your help, become part of our family. Even when it’s the right thing to say goodbye, it’s also the hardest thing we do.

Other pages are easier to write. It was just over six years ago that we left Arizona. Many of the horses have made the entire round trip, but there are new faces in the herd as well, four from our years in Colorado, and one from Oregon. Whether old timers or new arrivals, there are a bunch of horses (and donkeys) that call Grace Falls Farm home, and all of them would love for you to visit.

Will all of the moves, we have realized that Grace Falls Farm is less of a physical place and more a state of the heart. Wherever God has called us, our hearts have been blessed with amazing people that have come alongside and supported the Farm one way or another, from trail rides in Apache Junction, Arizona, to group games in Greeley, Colorado, to children stirring sloppy pellets for Breeze in Bend, Oregon, and now to what lies ahead in Tucson, Arizona.

The Superstitions. The Rocky Mountains. The Cascades. And now the Rincons. Different mountains, same mission, the same need for your support, and the same fact that 100% of your donations go directly to horses and children. 100%. Period.

Please share this with anyone you know that loves kids, horses, or both! Since we do not spend ANY money on advertising, YOU are our best hope for getting the word out!

At Grace Falls Farm, we are led by God, funded by donors, and powered by volunteers. Every dollar is donated, every hour is volunteered, all of it goes directly toward our mission to Rescue the Horse, Mentor the Child, and Heal the Hearts of Both, and all of it makes a difference. YOU make a difference!

We have many horses that need sponsored support. With rapid inflation it now takes $5 per day to cover the average cost of feed, hoof trims, and routine vaccinations and veterinary care of a horse. If you would like to sponsor one the horses at Grace Falls Farm, or even a portion, please contact us at [email protected] or 602.206.3512 to set up the sponsorship, or start now through PayPal and setup monthly donations right from there. Every dollar donated is tax deductible!

Most of you are aware that we moved back to Arizona in October. Last week we nearly lost our sweet boy, Gabriel a.k.a "Gabe" to sand colic. By God's grace he is improving each day and acting more like himself. To try and prevent this in the future we have purchased stall mats for each horse in the paddock.

On this giving Tuesday, would you pray about supporting us as a monthly donor, or giving a one-time gift to help us with the rising cost of hay, the mats and vet bills? All donations are tax deductible and go straight into the care of these horses. Our new address is: 3100 S Quail Trl, Tucson, AZ 85730.

The Lord provides in so many awesome and surprising ways. Amidst the soaring hay prices and scarcity, two girls who volunteer at the farm came through the gate unannounced yesterday afternoon at feeding time with goodies and a jar of money. Their families had put together a bake sale and craft sale, with homemade applesauce, bracelets, cupcakes, and everything in between, with all the proceeds going to the farm. We may not know where the next bale of hay is coming from, but Jesus sure does. That is God at work, and that is God’s children DOING His work! Absolutely humbled and speechless. So blessed at !
