Same Horse - Different Mountains!
Some things don’t change at Grace Falls Farm. We still play with kids. We still care for rescued horses. What we started doing well over a decade ago… we are still doing. Rescuing horses, mentoring children, and healing the hearts of both.
Other things do change, sometimes so fast we can’t get the word out until after the fact. Take for instance that in July we visited Tucson, Arizona, as part of a family vacation and a time to volunteer.
Seven days, several churches, and one amazing church camp later, we realized there was a major opportunity for Grace Falls Farm to serve in Tucson.
Thirty days later, we found a location.
Another thirty days later, the move began.
Another thirty days later, fourteen horses stepped out of trailers onto nine acres that they now call their new home.
Not bad for 97 days. And now, finally having two seconds to rub together, we can finally announce that Grace Falls Farm has moved!
Our new address is 3100 S Quail Trail, Tucson, Arizona 85730. If you donate to the farm, first of all THANK YOU! Please be sure to update the address!
As the Farm turns quickly from one page to the next, some of the pages are harder to write than others. While new stories are opening, there are three amazing stories that have come to an end.
In October we finally had to say farewell to Breeze, the Farm’s longest standing horse in the history of Grace Falls. First arriving in 2004, Breeze welcomed every other horse into the Farm, and was sure to put them in their place, because nobody pushed him around, he just wouldn’t stand for it! Tougher than nails, Breeze survived several bouts of cancer, and lived well into his thirties.
Not a month later, we had to say our goodbyes to Munchkin, just a few weeks after arriving in Arizona. Also in her thirties, Munchkin finally decided it was her time to go. Ironically, she had been Breeze’s little buddy, and so when Breeze left, she must have realized that her time with us was also drawing to an end. Both Breeze and Munchkin were part of our “pellet gang”, needing softened food due to their age. We will forever miss their whinnies as the pellets were being poured.
Finally, very unexpectedly, Jedediah passed away. Jedediah suddenly went from being first in line at feeding time to no appetite. After hurried vet visits it was clear that our dear “Pooh Bear” of a horse was in grave condition, and he passed away peacefully that night. Never at any time did he show any signs of pain or discomfort, and the vet commented “his composure up until his passing is moving”. That was our Jedediah, and he will forever be remembered here at the Farm.
The horses we promise to care for, with your help, become part of our family. Even when it’s the right thing to say goodbye, it’s also the hardest thing we do.
Other pages are easier to write. It was just over six years ago that we left Arizona. Many of the horses have made the entire round trip, but there are new faces in the herd as well, four from our years in Colorado, and one from Oregon. Whether old timers or new arrivals, there are a bunch of horses (and donkeys) that call Grace Falls Farm home, and all of them would love for you to visit.
Will all of the moves, we have realized that Grace Falls Farm is less of a physical place and more a state of the heart. Wherever God has called us, our hearts have been blessed with amazing people that have come alongside and supported the Farm one way or another, from trail rides in Apache Junction, Arizona, to group games in Greeley, Colorado, to children stirring sloppy pellets for Breeze in Bend, Oregon, and now to what lies ahead in Tucson, Arizona.
The Superstitions. The Rocky Mountains. The Cascades. And now the Rincons. Different mountains, same mission, the same need for your support, and the same fact that 100% of your donations go directly to horses and children. 100%. Period.
Please share this with anyone you know that loves kids, horses, or both! Since we do not spend ANY money on advertising, YOU are our best hope for getting the word out!
At Grace Falls Farm, we are led by God, funded by donors, and powered by volunteers. Every dollar is donated, every hour is volunteered, all of it goes directly toward our mission to Rescue the Horse, Mentor the Child, and Heal the Hearts of Both, and all of it makes a difference. YOU make a difference!
We have many horses that need sponsored support. With rapid inflation it now takes $5 per day to cover the average cost of feed, hoof trims, and routine vaccinations and veterinary care of a horse. If you would like to sponsor one the horses at Grace Falls Farm, or even a portion, please contact us at [email protected] or 602.206.3512 to set up the sponsorship, or start now through PayPal and setup monthly donations right from there. Every dollar donated is tax deductible!
