Old Souls Animal Rescue and Retirement Home

I just dropped off Finn for his lifesaving eye surgery. Thanks to all of you, I was able to make the $2,200 down payment. Now all we have left to raise is $1665 by 4pm when I pick him up.

Some of you have asked why we are not using our vet in Mexico any more. While we love Dr Sergio at Centro Medico Veterinario, it’s a 3 hour drive and I just don’t have that kind of time on my hands. I would love to use a vet closer to us over the border but there are so many that I don’t know who to try! Plus, I hate the parking situation at that crossing.

I’m open to suggestions! Who do you all use for vet care at our border crossing? And what do they specialize in? And are there any secrets to getting good parking at the crossing?

Next Finn update this afternoon!

Get ready to see the cutest waddle on the planet! Ivy needs to be fully covered bc she tries to get at her tumors so now she wears a diaper and a secondary diaper to cover the tumors, and a t-shirt to cover everything else.

Finn's big surgery day is tomorrow (Thur)! We still need to raise $1,711 to completely cover it so he can be pain free once and for all, and go back to enjoying his life! Please share our fundraiser to help Finn and other geriatric and hospice pets in our community who need us.

We are at Eye Care for Animals today bc Finn’s right eye started hurting on Sunday. It ends up that both eyes have become very painful, and there is no more medical treatment that can help him. But we can do surgery.

If we remove both eyes, it will cost $3,811. And if we remove his left eye, but only remove the lens from his right eye, it will cost $4,444. The benefit of just removing the lens in the right eye is that he will have distance vision in that eye so he will finally be able to see!

For those of you thinking how cruel it is to remove a dog’s eyes, you have not experienced the pain they go through in having damaged or diseased eyes, and you haven’t experienced how happy they become once their eyes and the pain are gone. We have done enucleations on many dogs, and we don’t regret a single one!

Since Finn’s eyes have become so painful, our only options are immediate surgery or euthanasia. He is not ready to go to the Bridge! So we need to raise at least $3,811 with an additional $633 if we want to save his right eye.

Luckily, the Jim Click Millions For Tucson event is in full force right now and goes through the start of December! For every $25 you donate to Old Souls, you will get one ticket for the Jim Click raffle in which you can win a brand new vehicle and other prizes. It’s $25 for one ticket or $100 for 5 tickets. Mr. Click allows us to keep every penny we raise so when you donate, all the money stays at Old Souls.

Click our fundraiser link to make your donation. Then we will send you a pic of your tickets for the raffle.

Finn has had a rough life. Let’s get him the eye surgery he needs so he can continue to live his best life at Old Souls. 💕

We are testing out a new fundraising idea - couch tours of Old Souls! Hay rides are itchy and have uncomfortable seating. A couch tells our donors “We care about your comfort.” The dogs already peed on the couch and pre-chewed it for authenticity.

18 year old Annie is living her best life in foster care. She gets quite the pep in her step at dinner time!

Our beautiful Belli girl got a hair cut today thanks to one of wonderful donors! Thank you T and D!

Belli was recently deemed hospice bc of her advancing kidney failure. You would never know it when she chases the cats! And when she is stealing Finn’s favorite food, Just Food for Dogs.

Keno went to a foster home! He is staying with a wonderful family whose dachshund recently passed away. The hole in their heart can now be filled a little bit with the love and sweetness of our little boy Keno.

We miss him terribly but we are so happy he is with his new foster family where he is loved and spoiled and he even has a little dog sister.

Sleepy sleepy time at Old Souls. I think there’s a spot near the window for me!

Sleepy sleepy time. Two blankets tonite bc it’s getting chilly. I think I see a cozy spot for me right between Belli and Finn.
