This little Dude is starting to come out of his shell!

Dude is a handsome 1-year-old Shepherd mix. He’s been a little shy since he came to us from Gila County Animal Care & Control Division, but we’ve seen glimmers of the dog he’ll be in a loving home.

In the yard with other dogs, his bashfulness wasn’t enough to hold him back from jumping into little bursts of play. At the adoptions desk, he couldn’t get enough cuddles! And this week he came out of his kennel with a newfound curiosity.

Just imagine how much he’d blossom with a loving person like you 💜

Right now, when you adopt Dude or any other 40+ pound dog from HSSA, you’ll receive $600 worth of pet supplies and services—it's Kind of a Big Deal!

But please come in tomorrow, Saturday, or Sunday, because the adoption program we’re running is Kind of a Big Deal! When you adopt a dog over 40 pounds (like Spot here), you’ll receive $600 in pet supplies and services.

We want to make it as easy as possible to bring home a new dog, and we have so many amazing pups just waiting to meet you!

Our new "It's Kind of a Big Deal" campaign is officially announced: from June 17 to July 5, adopt any dog 40 lbs or more and get $600 in food, supplies, vaccines, training, a spay/neuter voucher, and more.

"The easiest way to summarize this program," said Dr. Kristin Barney, who joined HSSA as CEO in 2024, "is that we looked at every cost to bring a big dog home and asked how we could carry it for our adopters."

If you know of anyone looking for a new big pup, tag them so they don't miss out on our biggest adoption support program ever.

Yoga soothes the body and the mind🧘 especially when puppies are involved!

Some of our adoptable puppies showed off their Downward Dogs at Sol Dog on Saturday at a sold-out Puppy Yoga event benefitting both organizations. In fact, Jhene, Frank, Abel, and Brent were so relaxed that they were falling asleep on their new yogi friends.

Thanks to Sol Dog for hosting such a fun (and soothing!) event

We just welcomed 30 cats from Texas!

drove all the way from the outskirts of Houston to give 5 adults cats, 24 “musher” kittens, and one older kitten better chances at finding homes.

It was an eventful Thursday morning at HSSA, loud with the mews of kittens who had clearly had more than enough time in the car. Our staff worked quickly to examine every kitty and get them to comfortable kennels where they happily chowed down.

Some of the cats are already up for adoption, but our new “mushers” will go to foster for a little while. Musher kittens are still transitioning to solid food and are too small for spay/neuter surgery. But they’ll be ready to meet their adoring public soon!

We’re so grateful to Brazoria County SPCA for partnering with us and going the distance for pets in need! 🚘

Florence Copper Community Foundation stopped by this week to present a check and see their impact in action.

Their ongoing support helps us take in pets from Pinal County Animal Care and Control, including pets with significant medical needs like our first Max’s MASH Unit patient, Basil.

Thank you, Florence Copper Community Foundation!
