Don't let his name fool you—this guy will always stick by your side!

Rove is a 1-year-old pittie mix who came to us from PACC while he was fighting off distemper. As a PACC volunteer favorite, his reputation preceded him, and we were quickly won over too. There's so much to love: his goofy personality, cute blocky head, his taste for belly rubs... but it's his resilience we love most of all!

Following illness and isolation, he has grown in big ways, even at the shelter. Volunteers have taught him sit, roll over, to walk up and down an A-frame, and are helping him get used to a crate. What a smart boy!

His fee is covered, and he comes with food, treats, and training to help him thrive in his new home! So, really, there's no reason not to come meet him soon

Saved by the side of the highway 💜

When two community members saw a distressed cat just off I-10, they put themselves at risk to catch her and bring her to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

Paralyzed with fear, Mochi’s eyes were as big as saucers when she arrived. Her white fur was stained gray by the dust of the asphalt.

We believe she had been hit by a car. An x-ray revealed a broken leg but no damage to vital organs, thankfully. She was going to make it. And with immediate treatment, we even saved her leg. After some crucial time healing in a foster home, Mochi found a loving family.

But so many pets are still waiting for their lifeline.

This month, we’re trying to raise enough money to save up to 500 sick and injured pets. And right now, The Kelley and Chris Legacy Fund is matching gifts up to $10,000 through August 31!

If we meet the match, that’s another 133 lives saved and transformed. Can you please help a sick or injured pet with a gift today?

Up for adoption: 1 very cultured litter of puppies 🎨

Last night, Falcon, Osprey, Kestrel, Merlin, Kite, Swainson, and Hawk attended the Madaras Gallery’s Early Bird Kickoff. Our early birds mingled and refined their taste for beautiful art.

Unfortunately, most of these cuddly cuties don’t have a place to start their collections just yet. Why not your home?

Thanks again to Madaras Gallery and friend to HSSA Diana for welcoming all of us into your space. So good to see friends new and old over delicious treats and gorgeous works!

Don't let his grumpy face fool you. Our new (and soon, adoptable) Scottish Fold named Charles is SO excited to see how close we are to saving 500 lives this month. To donate to our Second Chance Fund while every dollar is matched, go to hssaz.org/second-chances. Every dollar saves lives! And there are only a few days left to help.

Have you ever seen a Scottish Fold in person? 😮 Let us know or tag someone who wants to bring this distinguished gentleman home! He will be ready for a loving home early next week. ✨

In the last week alone...

💜 Ember was declared cancer-free on Saturday, 8/15!

🐈 5-week-old kitten Xena was transferred to HSSA and received an emergency eye removal surgery on Thursday, 8/13
..and that's just a fraction of the lifesaving work that gifts to the Second Chance Medical Fund have made possible this week!

We're getting so close to our goal of saving 500 lives, and a generous donor is determined to help us get there. The Kelley and Chris Legacy Fund will match up to $10,000 in gifts until the campaign ends on August 31!

Thank you for helping us spread the word and find these beautiful souls homes ♥️🐾 and to everyone who donated to our Second Chance fund, where every dollar is matched and goes directly to saving lives.

Oh, no. Can you watch our brand new Australian Shepherd puppy for a second while we tell you something? We just realized this little guy doesn't have a name, yet. How about we choose one together?

Here are some very serious ideas that we put a lot of thought into and definitely did not simply look around our desks really quickly:

✏️ Number 2 Pencil
🍞 Mr. Toast
🚗 Unresolved Parking Ticket

-- ... No, you're right. 🤦 These are horrible. We can't name him any of those. But we are all out of ideas.

Do you have an idea for a name? Comment below. 👇

Let us know if you've given $5 or more to our current Second Chance campaign (PS, every dollar is doubled for the next 72 hours to life-saving animal care!) and we will be sure to give your idea very serious consideration. 💝💝 hssaz.org/second-chance

If you'd rather he be named after a friend of yours, tag them!

We'll see what gets the most likes and let you know which name was chosen.

We’ve raised over $55k for sick and injured shelter pets in August. But we’re still 100 lives from our goal of 500 animals saved.

A generous donor was so inspired by our progress that they’re matching every gift up to $2,500 starting today. But the match only goes through Saturday at midnight!

Can you help us meet the match and reach $60,000 for sick and injured pets? We can’t do it without you.

Help us close the gap faster! Make a gift by Saturday: https://tr.ee/UTj3p_0MKS
