Scott Alan Brown Foundation

Scott Alan Brown Foundation Non-profit soccer organization. In 2001 Scott Alan Brown passed away in tragic motorcycle accident. Scott was heavily involved in the Tucson soccer community.

He played locally with different clubs, having the most success with the Tucson Aztec's club team, Tormenta. Scott attended Sunny Side high school and helped the team reach the state finals in 1992. He continued his career playing Junior College at Pima Community College and then one season at Pan American in Texas. Prior to the development of the MLS, he played semi-professionally with the Tucson

Amigos in the PDL. He coached at Sunnyside high school working side by side with his friends and Father. This love and commitment to soccer is why the foundation continues his work, legacy and name. Each Spring his friends, teammates, and family come together to honor the memory of Scott through a memorial game. This event is put together by friends and family each year to pay tribute to the memory of Scott and raise money for the foundation. Players who played with Pima Community College, Tucson Aztecs Tormenta, Sunnyside High School, and the Tucson Amigos play for the coveted SAB trophy. The foundation became a 501(c)3 public charity with a tax ID # in 2009, making all donations tax deductible. The foundation sells t-shirts at the event to raise money, as well as accepting contributions from local businesses and people.

Remembrance….can’t believe it’s been 20 years. So much has happened: graduations, marriages, children, retirements, lost family/friends, even a pandemic. Life does go on, but we remember. Scott was an important part of our lives. All of us have so many memories. We reminisce all the time. Our hearts are filled with joy that so many people “remember.” Over the years not only family and friends have approached us with memories of Scott, but also unexpected sources. People who see the signs at Udall Park and make the connection; a delivery person and an architect who recognize our name; someone who went to school with Scott at UT Pan American and just wanted us to know they remember. Our family feels very blessed to have you all share our memories of Scott. Thank you.

The Foundation would like to wish Patrick Robles, recipient of the Craig Douglas Brown Memorial Scholarship, a very Happy Birthday. To bring you up-to-date on his recent accomplishments: "I am majoring in public management and policy, I will be starting my Junior year at the UA. I am now the youngest member of the Pima County Attorney's Office Senior leadership team serving as Community Outreach Coordinator. I stay connected to my school community on the Southside where I sit on the board of the Sunnyside Foundation. I do community service every weekend and work to bring young people out to many of these service projects. Most recently, I was featured in a segment on MSNBC with Dr. Anthony Fauci where I got to ask him a question on the safety of gathering once vaccinated. I have linked an article that the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences wrote about me this past month." https://sbs.arizona.edu/news/patrick-robles-public-management-and-policy-23-wonder-makes-me-speak

Sunnyside Alumni, an opportunity to support the current team.

Here at Sunnyside we provide our kids with everything we can so they feel like they are part of something important. The only way we are able to do this is by fundraising money on our own and putting it right back into the program. Every dollar we generate goes straight to the kids, where it belongs...

In light of Covid, the foundation has not been able to host its traditional Memorial Game. The game serves two purposes: to bring families and friends together to pay tribute to Scott, and to raise money for the Foundation. The SAB Foundation continues its work supporting local youth sports in Tucson. Many have asked about the game, and how to help. This is our present fundraiser. Please share with others; any contribution is appreciated. Thank you.

Over the past ten years, the Scott Alan Brown Foundation has supported many young individuals, teams, and organizations. This support has enabled youth in southern Arizona to pursue their dreams, goals, and ambitions in art, music, sports, and education. That is why we would like to donate to the football program under Coach Brandon Sanders at Pueblo High School. We feel that this program is following the same mission as our Foundation. Also, we believe that his work is a continuation of that of Saturnino “Curly” Santa Cruz.

Therefore, the Scott Alan Brown Foundation is proud to donate in honor of Coach Santa Cruz. He made a lasting contribution and difference at Pueblo High School, his community, and the lives of so many young people. Thank you Coach Santa Cruz for the tradition of supporting Tucson’s youth through sports and education.

The Scott Alan Brown Foundation was started in memory of Scott, a young man born and raised in Tucson, who participated in soccer and baseball at many levels. He developed lifelong friendships with many teammates. After his life was cut short in an accident in May, 2001, his family, friends, and teammates rallied to continue his work with young people. The Foundation is a 501(c) 3 Public Charity and you can like our page to see more of the donations it has made.
