🚨Calling all volunteers, we need your help!🚨

Learning together and through hands-on experience is at the heart of everything we do at BorderLinks, and sometimes that process is not linear…

Case in point: following multiple adobe brick-making and construction workshops, our new outdoor oven was nearly complete when it experienced…a bit of a setback this morning.

Lesson learned! But we need help rebuilding the collapsed side this week if we want to stay on schedule with the overall project.

We will be repairing the oven this Thursday, May 14th from 5 – 7:30pm, and this Saturday, May 16th from 7 – 10am at BorderLinks! Join us!

No adobe mastery or previous workshop attendance required! All you need is a keenness to learn and a willingness to get a little dirty.

El aprendizaje colaborativo y experiencial es fundamental en todo lo que hacemos en BorderLinks. Sin embargo, a veces este proceso no es exactamente lineal...

Por ejemplo: tras varios talleres de construcción con adobe, el horno estaba casi terminado... cuando, de repente, sufrió un desafortunado contratiempo esta mañana.

¡Lección aprendida! Pero necesitamos ayuda para reconstruir el lado que se derrumbó, de modo que podamos mantenernos dentro del programa del proyecto general.

Estaremos trabajando en el horno este jueves 14 de mayo, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:30 p. m. y sábado 16 de mayo a 7:00 a 10:00 a.m. en el patio de BorderLinks. ¡Vengan a echarnos una mano!

No es necesario haber asistido a un taller previo ni tener experiencia previa con el adobe. ¡Todo lo que necesitan es interés y la disposición a ensuciarse un poco!

BorderLinks is beyond proud to announce that we’ve been chosen to receive a LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund Grant this year!

With this support, we will be able to realize a long-held dream: running an educational program for q***r and trans movement leaders of color rooted in the Tucson area. Border and migrant justice are profoundly intersectional issues; by bringing together organizers from across our region’s movement ecosystem, we are nurturing the diverse coalitions needed to transform borderlands into places of thriving for all.

Thank you to the Advisory Board of the Alliance Fund, and to , for sharing our belief in the power of popular education as well as the need for cross-organizational learning.

BorderLinks se siente sumamente orgulloso de anunciar que hemos sido seleccionados para recibir una subvención del LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund este año.

Gracias a este apoyo, podremos hacer realidad un sueño largamente anhelado: lanzar un programa educativo dirigido a líderes de color dentro de los movimientos q***r y trans, con arraigo en el área de Tucson. Hey Tucson/southern Arizona friends! We could really use a laugh, and we’re guessing you could too. Luckily is here for us!

So come stretch those creaky, underworked smiling muscles with us on Friday, April 14th at 7PM at Groundworks (2919 E Grant Rd) for a special Ice Out For Good comedy show.

Humor can be a very effective critical tool, and joy and laughter sustain and invigorate our movements in the hard moments. So, let’s show out for Lady Haha, a space dedicated to marginalized people who perform comedy.

And, as if you needed another reason, proceeds from this show will be going towards BorderLinks!

On Sunday, March 22nd BorderLinks is collaborating with students from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University on a daylong conference about our “Borderlands Future”. During the event graduate and undergraduate students will be presenting their own research on the pressing issues facing our region. We are also honored to have Nellie Jo David presenting a Keynote Talk!
 
This event will be held at the Global Justice Center in Tucson (225 E. 25th St.) from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and is open to the public. The keynote address will begin at 10:45 a.m. and at noon we will be offering a complimentary lunch.

Este domingo 22 de marzo, BorderLinks colaborará con estudiantes del Barrett Honors College de la Universidad Estatal de Arizona en una conferencia sobre nuestro programa “Futuros Fronterizos”. Durante el evento, los estudiantes presentarán sus propias investigaciones sobre temas urgentes que afectan a nuestra región. También nos sentimos honrados de contar con la presencia de Nellie Jo David como oradora principal.
 
El evento tendrá lugar en el Centro de Justicia Global de Tucson (225 E. 25th St.) de 9:00 a 15:00 horas. La entrada es gratuita y abierta al público. El discurso de apertura comenzará a las 10:45 horas y se servirá un almuerzo gratuito al mediodía.

Did you know that the Department of Homeland Security is trying to implement new rules that will effectively end asylum seekers’ ability to obtain work permits? We have until the end of the Public Comment period on April 24, 2026 to convince DHS to rethink this incredibly harmful policy shift.
 
 The United Universalist Solidarity Initiative, of which BorderLinks is part, is hosting an online “No Frills Action Hour” on Wednesday, March 18th at 4:30 p.m. PT + Arizona Time / 5:30 p.m. MT / 6:30 p.m. CT / 7:30 p.m. ET. During the session participants will receive a primer on the issue of migrant work permits before taking action together in fellowship and community.

Join us at Las Milpitas (2405 S Cottonwood Ln, Tucson, AZ 85713) on Saturday, February 21st at 7pm (doors 6:30pm) for an outdoor screening of the award-winning, Emmy-nominated documentary The Hand That Feeds.

The Hand That Feeds follows the late Mahoma Lopez and his fellow undocumented coworkers at an NYC restaurant chain as they organize an independent union to combat abusive working conditions. The unionizing deli workers receive support and mentorship from the , including organizer .aran , who will be joining us via Zoom after the film for a Q&A.

This is an outdoor event, and there will be freshly-popped popcorn!
