EF High School Exchange Year is looking for host families and to hire local coordinators to help bring the world to Tucson! We are the biggest J-1 Visa program and bring about 2800 students to the U.S. from 13 different countries. We work with many different schools in the community have had exchange students come to Tucson for over 20 years.
There is no 'typical' host family. Our families represent the diversity of American culture, and we encourage families of all shapes and sizes to host. Some families have young or teenage children, while others may be empty-nesters or newlyweds. We've had single people, same-sex couples, and grandparents all be wonderful hosts. This is a volunteer position that brings culture into your family, school, and community!
Our students come insured and with their own spending money. Many are extroverted and energetic and look for those busy families while some are more home-bodies.
I asked one of our kiddos this year what the weirdest/dumbest question she'd been asked so far and she said her host brother asked her, "Did you have wifi back in Paris?" 😉 Expose your kids to what the world has to offer and you can make this world a little bit smaller.
We are also searching for local coordinators that can help find host families, do monthly check-ins and various group activities throughout the year with the students and families! Coordinators earn money and travel benefits at varying degrees for the amount of students and families matched.
