It's with a sad heart that our friend and scouter, James Arriola passed on January 2, 2026. He contributions to Nebagamon Lodge and our Section were immense. Joe expressed what all of his friends have felt about the times we had together. Rest in Peace my friend. Condolences to your family. Edwin DeLuna

"I still can't really believe this James... it doesn't seem real. Except I knew when Mark Chilutti called that it was. He said you were hiking, like you were when Tracy Schultze was with you some 20 years ago up to Mt Charleston and that waterfall and you scared us all then. I'm grateful that we had that time with you. Time for more trails and campouts and Conclaves, Scout trips and service projects and NOACs, and your wedding and family (those amazing boys and your adventurous girl -- our hearts are with them and we'll hold them close for you) and dreams of so much more...
I'm glad you were hiking. There were so many great trips. In the Catalinas and the desert around Tucson, Valley of Fire, hot springs along the river and all those trips to Moab, around the 4 Corners, and of course Cedar Mesa and Grand Gulch among the Ancients. That first trip when my old Duster was the "dependable car" and we slept under the stars near Natural Bridges and it snowed, and went down all those 4-wheel drive roads that the Ranger said he wasn't allowed to take his government truck. You introduced me to Moon House and Perfect Kiva, and so many other magical places. Reading books by campfire-light and pouring over old maps and notes and dots along contours to see where we'd explore next...
God I wish there could be more trips. We kept planning and dreaming but the timing never worked out (it was supposed to be this spring!), and now you've gone on ahead. Scrambling up the red rocks into that next alcove like you did so many times... looking back with that smile. Then turning to place your hand near those prints left so long ago. Now you've joined the Ancients. Far too soon. You will be (and already are) deeply missed.
Rest In Peace my Brother. We will never forget you."
